Agree
Les had the sales gene. He just wasnt humble enough for to adapt at HC.

No Miles was a good/great recruiter, he simply couldn’t and didn’t capitalize on all his success and recruit the alpha positions (QB/OL/DL/LB) at a higher level when that success came so that he could sustain the success.
If Les Miles would have capitalized on those positions when he had his chance and changed the offense when offenses were changing, he would still be the coach at LSU period. He’s a good HC, he’s just not a very good decision maker when everyone is shouting out what his decisions should be, even IF those shouting were absolutely correct.
He’ll probably take Kansas football where it hasn’t been in a good while as their HC. Imo he learned a lot at and from LSU, as did LSU from Les Miles. He will start landing 4* players there and possibly the occasional 5* in the future. He will be in Louisiana regularly simply because he knows the area and the area is familiar with him. He also knows that the typical 3* in Louisiana is very different than the 3* in the Midwest.

He got obj and Landry to come play in one of the worst passing offenses around. I’d say that’s pretty good recruiting.

this was a seriously dumb topic. Miles was and still is a fantastic recruiter. DUMB

Les doesn’t need elite talent. His in game coaching is special and his teams have great want for victory so they’ll be ok

Miles was a great recruiter but he was subpar at roster management. It seemed like there were years where he would absolutely load up at one or two positions then basically not recruit that position for 3 years.

Kansas finished #56 in the 247 Rankings with zero 4 or 5 stars and 26 3 stars this year.
I’d be willing to bet that’s one of the best classes Kansas has ever signed

Miles is a great recruiter.
I mean, how many 5-stars is Frank Wilson nabbing at his last spot and current one? Surely that doesn't suggest he isn't one of the best recruiters ever (because he certainly is), now, does it?

Is 26 "3" stars a record for Kansas? That seems like a great class. Some of these 3's can work and become 4's.

This could be a little challenging to make sure you are on a comparable basis year to year. As I mentioned before, and it wasn't meant as a knock on the class, is that there are 2600 3 stars in the composite database, another 337 4 stars and 31 5 stars. That's close to 3000 prospects. Of course they could have signed some diamond in the roughs from the remaining 297,000 2 stars and below, but you would expect a P5 team, regardless of who they are, to sign the majority of their recruits from the 3000. The question is has there always been that many 3 stars?

QB and OL evals were poor but otherwise yes
I dont doubt a couple of QBs could’ve had more success had they been in a suitable system

what gave it away? was it the win loss numbers of never having more than 3 wins during his tenure?
was it his worst resume ever at a program full of shite tenures?

every year PFF ranked our offensive line as one of the 10 best in cfb.
this is revisionist history.
lsu ranked 4th in all of cfb for producing dlinemen
also this notion that you have to have these blue chip olinemen all the time is bullshite.
from 2009-2019 Clemson had 2 olinemen drafted

Miles had the LSU brand behind him; a talent rich state with no other in-state P5 program for competition. The remarkable thing is how many highly rated receivers he convinced to sign given his offensive philosophy.
I never thought Miles was great at roster management in recruiting to needs and obviously he gets an F for quarterbacks.
Miles is happy to be coaching again so that’s good. Unfortunately he, Dorothy and Toto are indeed in Kansas. A state they share with the Super Bowl champs.
