Bingo: I have posted this on other threads and posted in on Tigerbait when JD5 announced he was returning. That is: JD5 returning guarantees LSU would have 3 Scholarship QB's on its roster in Fall 2023. Whoever was not #2 behind JD5 after Spring ball was likely leaving in the May Portal.
Seems Nuss has clearly established himself as QB 2 behind JD5 and Howard sees it is not likely he could beat him out for QB2 before 2023 season starts and does not feel he could beat out Nuss in Spring 2024 for QB1.

That's just not the way college football is now. He obviously sees this as Nuss team the next 2 seasons

Hopefully it's just an indication to Nuss development. Howard looked like a true freshman this year despite tRant trying to anoint him a god before he ever even took a snap. He needs 2 years development minimum. This is probably him realizing he's not going to start here anytime soon. Throwing a pretty ball doesn't mean you can operate nuances at the QB position. It's that simple. You have to develop one of the hardest positions to play no matter how pretty and accurate your spiral is.

Oh boy. Why tf pray tell would Nuss transfer now? I don’t believe we were ever keeping Nuss and Howard…1 was always transferring after the spring. We found out early who’s got a head up in the QB room tonight. We also found out just how ignorant some of our fans are…unfortunately.

If he's headed to TCU, he might be sitting out a good while there, too. Morris is more experienced, and he initially won the starting job this year before getting injured in the season opener.

Told some folks that Nuss wasn't the one to worry about. Hard for a modern day college program to have 3 good QB's and not get one poached.

Hate to see it but he is definitely 3rd strong at LSU after watching him on the field! Kids are not gonna grow in a program any more and get better there gonna transfer to a smaller school and be done

You just found out nuss was ahead of Howard on the depth chart? Nuss is also a year ahead of Howard and is actually ready to play at a high level. If he is beat out by Jd5 in the spring you can bet he will contemplate transferring somewhere he can start right away. Hopefully the staff can convince him to stay based on him having 2 more years of eligibility after the 23 season but I would put that at about 50/50. If Howard had any sense at all he would have known this and at least waited till this spring but really should have waited until after the following spring competition to make his decision.

Howard just moving on faster than Burrow did. Why sit three years then transfer.
