What is stupifying is all of the work that Valentine put forth to finally be on the team, and then he throws it all away, by not putting the effort in to stay on the team, get in better shape, etc.
Why would he throw all that away after the effort he made to be accepted back onto the team.
Seriously, I hope he finds the motivation necessary to turn his life around, maybe even make an NFL team, but it's probably just as likely you will see him at the neighborhood popeyes scarfing down as much food as he can.

i'd prefer Lawrence, Alexander, Shelvin, and Wilson, to go along with Lacouture who is coming back, over Valentine... he would have been, at best a 2nd team rotational player, but there isn't a lot of drop off from him vs. incoming FR...

You cant backcount back that far. If anything it would have opened up an EE spot but that has passed.

Why not?
If you signed less than 25 the previous year, you can back-fill the difference with early entry guys in the current year. So, say we counted 23 guys last year, we could sign 2 early entry guys this year, plus 25 other guys (either early entry or Summer/Fall enrollees).
Where processing comes in, is you have an 85 scholarship limit and all of your signees and returning scholarship guys have to fit under that 85 player cap. If you don't have enough space under the 85 player limit, you can make room by "processing".
