Valentine being kicked adds another spot

Sucks for the phantom player that we over-hyped, but it's good news for recruiting.

Does anyone think it's possible that the staff New they were getting a recruit that they may have been on the fence about and that's what pushed them to let valentine go?

No. I would imagine Orgeron's remarks back in October regarding Valentine's lack of work ethic and his reoccurring disciplinary issues are what forced him out.

It doesn't add another spot for the recruiting class. Maybe next years class not this one.

The whole story behind Valentine is a secret. How he was allowed to come back, why he was benched, etc...
After Miles was canned, the Valentine saga came to a close.
I do agree that we're making room for someone. Amik or someone we aren't discussing?
Bower a few years ago was a nice surprise.
I imagine some recruits want to make sure they keep their scholarship/spots as Coach O makes pushes towards the end of the 2017 cycle.

Well, it may or may not add a spot. You get 25 spots a year, and you can add spots under certain circumstances (for instance early entry players and underfilled classes from year before). Therefore, if your limiting factor for spots this year is scholarships, it opens a spot. If it is the spot itself, then it doesn't open one for this year. I have no idea what Lsu's specific situation is though.....

The number you can sign is a hard constraint. The 85 total is a soft constraint in the sense that you can "process" players to make room if needed for those you sign. Consider Valentine "processed."

Idk the exact rule, but you can't add spots to the roster just by cutting kids. It will probably give us another scholly for next year if a walk on doesn't get it but you can't just cut kids on the team to make room in the same year.

Isn't that exactly what they did to Domingue (sp?) in order to add Valentine. And that was only weeks before the season

I think that is different because Valentine was considered a transfer. Valentine being kicked off only adds to the number of early enrollees we can have. So I think it's too little too late on that front.
