yeah ok. bunch of head-in-the-sand here

We did offer him. On offense. Same as Alabama. Texas A&M offered him as a linebacker. He doesn't want to play offense apparently. We asked him to come to camp and work out at linebacker. He didn't want to do that. I believe he did go to Alabama's camp to work out as a linebacker and they decided to offer him at that position too, if they ended up with room.

Also, I read an article from the summer about Alabama's champions cookout where it said that was Harris' FIFTH trip to Tuscaloosa this year. He's obviously enamored with the place and didn't really want to go to LSU anyway.

So...we have linebackers on the roster and already committed who we like better and that want(ed) to come to LSU.

This isn't people having their heads in the sand. It's people having their eyes and ears open and objectively evaluating the facts of this kid's recruitment.

I'll be very surprised if Saban doesn't ultimately convince him to switch to offense, in which case, I do believe he's going to be a bigtime player for them.

We never had any intention of playing him at LB so why lie? You think that's better and potentially pissing him off and ruining our relationship with Uhigh because we piss him off by lying to him?

Fact is Aranda got who he really wanted at LB and didn't see him as better.
valid point thunderbird, and I agree.

File this one under "talented, but not a good fit"

Our elite local kids go to the private school for free, then go out of state. U-High is shite.

We have a U-High player in next year's class. Our starting RB this year was a U-High player. Can you name all the U-High players that we really wanted that went out of state? I do not think this is a very long list.

Tim Williams is the only one that immediately comes to mind and I seem to recall that he always had a Bama preference and ultimately got the commitable offer.

Tim Williams was turned down when he tried to commit to LSU.

You want to give up Marcel Brooks or Donte Starks to get a lesser player? I ask because that's essentially what you'd be doing. At worst, Christian Harris is the equal of Kendall McCallum so it's a wash.

If a school signed 22 last season, 3 kids can enroll into that school for this Spring and count back to the last class.

But they signed Savion Smith as a transfer. Shouldn’t that count towards their overall count?

He was included in their 22 from last year. Juco guys are always included in the signing classes on 247. Grad transfers and transfers directly from other D1 programs are never included and have to be factored in separately.

According to Alabama posters on the SEC recruiting board, they didn't take any transfers last year, so their number is 28.

Didn’t Tim Williams get caught with illegal guns and drugs and faced no repercussions from Nick Saban in the name of “doing what’s best for the players”?

Saban is so fricking selfish, he doesn’t give 2shites about the futures of these young men. Whatever helps SABAN is what Saban does.

I agree with almost everything you said. But Tony Brown is in the NFL & this board told me yesterday that Hootie didn’t really wanna be there. Cam Sims might be a better example.

Bama might recruit over a guy, but if they sign you you’re probably a pretty good football player.

I don’t know if they miss or just get a better player at that position.

No idea how their count me in as made up and I'm not sure this year either. My comment was theoretical, although I did use numbers from what was posted on the board. You can still "back fill" but only with kids who enroll in the spring.

its also highly unlikely they close with all 9 of those.

can someone please actually post the new recruiting rules from which they are so certain they can take 28?

Can’t find an official NCAA rule but here is an article that covers it.
