Amazing work my guy

HUDL

Scouting Report:

quote:

Athletic, long-armed offensive line frame that will add mass quickly on the next level. Plays with good pad level. Nasty, blue collar, effort player. Doesn’t pass block much in HS but has shown in a camp setting a natural pass set. Mirrors well with basketball athleticism. Uses long arms effectively. Shows some stiffness laterally in the run game. Spends too much time on the ground. Needs to get stronger. Body type and movement skills are what you look for. May not be an instant starter but has the upside to be a multi-year impact Power Five starter with the potential to develop into a mid to early round draft pick.

quote:

Q: You’ve been to Baton Rouge before, what have those trips been like and did you get a good feel for LSU?

quote:

Leigh: “My first visit was last summer. Coach Cregg told me to come down to the Elite Camp with the older guys. I went down and felt like I made a name for myself. I competed really well. Then I got a great tour of the campus, and it was amazing. It was a beautiful campus. Then I went to the Texas A&M game, and that atmosphere, Death Valley at night, it was incredible. It was insane. Me and the coaches have just been building the relationship up ever since those trips.”

quote:

Q: How is that relationship now a year later with both Cregg and Orgeron?

quote:

Leigh: “My relationship, I am very close with both Coach Cregg and Coach O. I can talk to them about anything and not just football. And I feel comfortable doing that. It’s a family thing to me. My mom has multiple sclerosis, and she was having trouble getting up to her seat (at the game), and people were ignoring the game to just help her get up to the seat. I think that shows the character of the people at LSU. And you get that vibe from Coach Cregg and Coach O. It starts at the top.”

quote:

Q: LSU lost five offensive linemen from last year’s roster and they don’t have many offensive tackles in the room. Is that a main pitch from Cregg?

quote:

Leigh: “Most definitely. That is one of my main things with LSU. I like the campus and I am cool with the coaches and all that, but there is opportunity. If that is where I am going, I plan to come in and compete right away on day one. That would be my goal. The opportunity is there.”

quote:

Q: Does LSU check all those boxes right now?

quote:

Leigh: “Most definitely.”

Updated Rivals: Re-ranking the contenders

quote:

1. LSU
This is a very tight race but the Tigers hold an edge right now. There is a lot that Leigh likes about LSU but what will get him to eventually commit to Ed Orgeron’s squad is the consistent communication. He has a great relationship with offensive line coach James Cregg and Leigh’s family feels very comfortable with the program as a whole. Another visit to LSU will surely come once the dead period is over.

Very interesting that LSU was #5 with the first Rivals: Ranking the contenders. Shows how much of a push the staff has been on.

IMO this is the only reason he hasn’t popped yet. Which I completely understand if you’re making a decision for 3-4 years.

After listening to the OTB interview, this kid should be LSU's #1 priority (offensively at least). Very mature for a 17 year old.

He would be the 2nd highest ever OL for LSU per 247 (since 2000)

Captain Crown, thank you! Didn't mean to call ya out like that, just a fan of your work.
LINK / If Tristan Leigh signs with LSU it would put Dellinger at 6 and Dumervil at 9 in the top 10 list for LSU OT in the history of 247.

Did anyone hear his comment regarding why he is still waiting to commit? I could hear it but it wasn't coming in clear enough for me to make out what he was saying.

Q: Do you have a timeline to make a decision?

Leigh: “Right now I am trying to see how things pan out. I would like to take my five official visits before I commit. But if that’s not the case, I feel like I have gathered enough information over quarantine where I would be comfortable with a commitment. But, I would really like to take my five official visits.”

Any idea who he was going up against at the LSU camp? He got beat pretty badly quite a few times in that video on his 247 profile.

No he didn't. White helmet put a spin move on him once, that's it. Also, those drills are tailor made for defensive players, anyone who has ever played football knows this.

Based on what premise? That now makes 2 of your assessments incorrect in this topic post.

No, he’s just stating a fact. He only got beat once in that video, on a spin move in a drill that mostly favors the defense. Everything he said was correct. And nobody knows who that guy is because we aren’t psychic.
