Top 40 recruit according to 24/7 discussing the process. Pretty interesting to get his insight about what goes on

Recap:
-He heard of recruits being offered cars and citizenship, but he distances himself from that stuff. The school in question was in cali.
-Said "nose candy" is common on recruiting visits
-A current winning season isn't critical to his decision
-A good education was critical
-No comments on SEC schools
-Singled out Frost and Nebraska as being great to him
Thanks for sharing OP

Citizenship? Schools poaching rugby players now?

Np. He actually answered one of my questions about the camp circuit.
Also he stated Alabama is DBU I asked him to clarify that opinion

He said he didnt begin playing football until 8th grade and really only tried it because he was a really good rugby player.

I tried to post about this in the Rant (as it relates to Bama's booster network coming through while ours isn't) but it got whacked.

West Coast kid that plays DB, he mentioned zone coverage. I'm guessing Mykael Wright - Oregon commit.

that was my guess, but he mentioned he took an official to Washington State and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere on his timeline.

think he meant a zone blocking scheme

A lot. For my position and with my size and strength scheme is pretty big for me. Without going into too much detail, I prefer a zone scheme as it suits my strengths as a player. I am perfectly fine with every other scheme but zone stuff allows me to utilize my quickness and athleticism to my advantage.
my guess is this kid

That's what I thought at first too, but I couldn't find an offensive lineman that fit the narrative. I'm going to guess Demani Richardson, safety committed to Texas A&M.
- Top 40 on 247
- Coach will be there a long time
- Only listed as taking 1 official visit
- Lives just south of Dallas, so makes sense the TCU coaches would have given him shite about going to College Station
- Said he's had contact with Ensminger, so that probably means he's from north LA or Texas, since those are E's primary recruiting areas.

That is who I was thinking. Also there is only one top 40 recruit committed to a team west of the Mississippi

Lots of dots that lead to Mykael Wright. In this article he said he grew up a Ducks fan and that his HS teammate is already committed which matches his AMA.
Yeah. I considered him as well. Just didn't quite get the TCU aspect.

My sleuthing, as an Oregon fan, since it's most likely one of our guys.
* Says he's top-40, but then amended it to top-50 in the 247's rankings.
* Says he's going to a school West of the Mississippi, but then clarifies it's not a great plains school. Meaning a West Coast school.
* There are only two top-50 guys currently committed to a West Coast school: Mykael Wright and Mase Funa to Oregon.
There is a third candidate, silently committed to Washington, Faatui Tuitele. A fourth likely candidate, Henry To'o'to is uncommitted.
Said that he has never visited Oregon, although says he's been on unofficial visits to both LA schools, Washington, Washington State. I think that's a red herring. The official visit date being in June may also be a red herring. I searched through the top-50 in both the composite and 247's own rankings and there is no one who hasn't visited Oregon that could fit the profile.
The real big giveaway to me is the rugby part and the Polynesian sounding username. Mase Funa was a big rugby guy.
He also mentions going to a big time power in high school football. All of Tuitele (St Louis), To'o'to (De La Salle) and Funa (Mater Dei) fit that narrative.
To my knowledge Funa has only taken one official visit.
Also mentions playing against a top-100 player currently at an SEC school. This could be anyone from a camp, but the only top-100 recruit from the West Coast who went to an SEC school in 2018 is Matt Corral. Corral went to Long Beach Poly, which played Funa's Mater Dei team last year.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's Mase Funa. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.
On a related note, the citizenship deal he was mentioning is a real thing. Two years ago elite DT Marlon Tuipulotu out of Oregon was flipped from Washington to USC at the last minute. His brother got a job at USC and was promised help in getting US citizenship.
