What is it about his frame you dont like? I love him, we have him in our top group. We felt he's clearly the #2 Dt in Louisiana. Im truly interested to see how he adjust to not having Bates on the Dline. If we can get spring video and see him handling the double will tell a lot..With Hunter also.

Height is probably the only real concern. He is about 5'11 which is kind of small.
I have Q. Thomas ahead of him right now because I see a higher ceiling at this point. I consider Micky to be a better player right now though.
I agree about not having Bates on the edge. It will play a big role.
Question:
Any idea who #50 in Rasco's film is? He is a big ol' guy but I am not familiar with him.

I can see Hunter dropping some in my rankings as the summer progresses. Playing at West Monroe may have created a little too much hype.

Brandon Jackson, Its hard to tell those guys switch jerseys a lot..I thought he was the sleeper of the Dline this year. I wouldnt be shocked if he had over a hundered tackles this year

Definite sleeper. He physically looked the part I just never watched him.

Hmm, thats interesting..I never had luxury of seeing him in person. However, if he's closer to being under 6'0 then above, maybe is what took so long to get the official offer from LSU..I see listed consistantly around 6'1. Hope he gets taller this summer..

I have not been able to see him in person either.
All reports are that he is 6'0 max.

whats your thoughts on Liggins from Leesville?
I like his perimeter skills..If he gets in the right camp, id like to see him at corner against
Landry,Sylve,Lewis,Byrd and company..this is how Mathieu blew up. I see them being the same type of player. Whats your thoughts

seinfeldtiger Liggins and Byrd will both be worked on offense and defense at the first camp. Liggins spoke with Gonzalez so i'm sure he will looked at receiver also.

Lynx...where did you go to HS?
Posted on 2/22/10 at 11:17 pm to supatigah
Hey Lynx great work. Not trying to add to your workload but would it be possible to show the previous rankings that you put next to the new rankings to show how the players are moving up or down in your rankings.
Maybe also give a scale of 1-10 of chance you think a prospect may end up at LSU. Regardless of your answers great job and glad to have someone with your knowledge on board.

Lynxx,
You are indeed entitled to your opinion on where each one of these LA recruits rank. However, in light of the fact that DT Mickey Johnson has 16 offers according to Scout which include:
Arizona
Arkansas
Baylor
Kansas State
Louisville
LSU
Memphis
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Nebraska
SMU
Southern Miss
Tennessee
Tulane
Tulsa
UCF
and, DT Quentin Thomas has one offer from:
LSU
and, DT Chuck Hunter has one offer from:
Ole Miss...
How is it that you reconcile this information to rate/rank Thomas and Hunter ahead of M. Johnson? I think it is a fair question and I would like a thoughtful response. I’m not taking pot shots at you, but am interested in understanding what you see that makes Thomas and Hunter have more potential and makes them better prospects from their film?

Sonny, thanks for the question.
My first comment to make is that the current rankings were done on February 16th. At that time, Mickey was sitting on only a handful of smaller offers (no LSU offer yet). Ever since his name became a common occurrence on this board, his recruitment has blown up (I think we can contribute some of his name recognition and the increased offers list in correlation to the internet chatter).
I plan on moving him up in the near future. At the same time, I do not foresee him skyrocketing very far into the top 10 due to the depth and talent of the 2011 class. I will give him a well deserved bump (as well as many others...there will be some substantial shifts in the future), nonetheless.
The lack of offers for both Chucky Hunter and Q. Thomas is a bit of a head scratcher at this point. While Mickey is very talented, I do not see such a large discrepancy that should account for a 16 offer difference. I do plan on bumping him into the #2 DT spot in the state.
There is a general lack of film on Thomas, which I think is limiting his exposure and therefore his lack of offers. It also makes it tough to evaluate him. However, I like his size and that he received a very early offer from LSU.
With Hunter....I think everyone is a little surprised he hasn't at least gotten a few smaller offers. Exposure and film isn't an issue at all with him. He very well could be a product of the West Monroe hype machine.
Does that answer your question?

Yes, that was a fair answer and understandable considering everything. I saw that you had moved some of the prospects and commitments around in ranking, but was curious about the DTs.
I know its a process that develops and changes until Feb. 2011. I appreciate all your hard work and look forward to how it all shakes out.
Thanks again!

there could be possibly even more movement at the DT position as well... from what I've seen and heard it could be a battle for the number 2 DT in the state between Johnson and Thomas (who could just as easily project as a SDE), but don't sleep on the DT from Rayville. This guy was the best DT I've seen in a few years as far as how dominant he was, and I've seen Sentimore and Hunter

I need to add them both to the watch list. They are solid players from what I've heard.

yeah, the TE is suppose to pretty good as well. The QB at Rayville had crazy numbers as well, because they put a ton of points up against anyone they played. It's crazy how good the athletes in such a small area are, but in the past there have been some academic issues with the bigger guys out of Rayville so I get a little cautiously optimistic regarding there players. I will say this about Rayville, they have consistently good coaching and a 1st class head man

Hey lynx have you heard any recent information on Quinto Thomas? I ask because last weekend I talked to a family member of his and was told that he hasn't committed to LSU because he is waiting on an offer from Texas. I hope this person was/is wrong!!! He said the kid really likes Texas. Of course this could all change. Who the heck knows what these kids are thinking...
