Louisiana has three outstanding QBs in 2027.

Most on here are familiar with Elijah Haven... #1 recruit in 2027.

What do you all think of Peyton Houston (Evangel) and Malachi Zeigler (Benton). I know Houston had a huge record setting game this season but I dont know much about Zeigler. I am kinda studying up on this in case we get Underwooded on Haven. Who would you all prefer in that situation?

Haven
Houston
Ziegler

The top two will be SEC guys. Haven has the highest ceiling. Houston is probably the most polished at this point. Ziegler played on a very bad team this year without much help.

Also a turnover machine when they play someone with any semblance of a defense. He's polished but to me he's a poor man's Julian Lewis or Bryce Young. Haven or Ziegler for me. Both bigger, more talented, better arms, more athletic and not system dependent. We don't run an offense that fits what Houston is good at. Then again by 27 we should have a new OC so who knows what we'll be running then. Does Kelly even know what he wants to run?

Turnover machine based on what

No, which is a huge issue. But also brings to question how Houston doesn’t fit the system they run lol

This is what I have been wondering about. He put up a 817 yrd passing game earlier this year against Capt Shreve. That is not necessarily low quality opposition and he is only a Soph. Allegedly he also had 100+ rushing yds. He will be interesting to watch next season.

As I said earlier I dont know much about Zeigler other than ratings.

How the hell does that even happen with 12 minute quarters?

Houston has extremely impressive vision and play making skills for a soph. Qb. That wasn't a extremely talented Evangel team this year either and he singled handedly kept them in most games. If he was 4" taller Haven and him would be 1 & 2 in the rankings.

Peyton Houston

I was looking over an article from during the season on Player of the Year Candidates.

I think the editor didn't see the latter two paragraphs when I sent the story.

quote:

Peyton Houston Soph. QB Evangel Christian - The Eagles are struggling to close out games in their first year back in Class 5A, but they've been competitive and made it fun, losing four district games by a total of 19 points before a one-point win over Benton.

Houston not only led the state in passing (204 of 279, 2,864 yards, 28 TDs, three INT) through seven weeks, he passed for 817 yards and totaled 10 TDs in a 77-76 loss to Captain Shreve, which Roy Lang of The Shreveport-Bossier Advocate wrote is a national single-game passing record.

Houston threw for 276 yards and four TDs as the Eagles won their second straight league game by downing Haughton 55-27 in Week 8, according to Roy Lang of The Shreveport Bossier Advocate.

More underperforming and turmoil because BK made another terrible mistake with Sloan?

There are 4 QBs in 2027 that LSU is likely targeting. If they land any of the 4, they’ll be in a good spot.

Haven
Houston
Rivers (Phillip’s son)
Nuss 2.0

Haven has the highest ceiling of the 4, but the other 3 are all legit future pros imo.

And possibly a 5th who's already visited:

TRAE TAYLOR
5.9 RATING

CARMEL CATHOLIC
MUNDELEIN, IL
CLASS OF 2027
UNDECIDED
If Illinois can pull the stunner and land the 2027 four-star quarterback from Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel Catholic it’s because of how comfortable Taylor is in Champaign. He loves the Illinois staff and the coaches told him he’s their No. 1 guy and he can commit whenever he’s ready.

But Taylor also visited Michigan over the weekend and spent a ton of time with analyst Josh Sinagoga as offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey was out of town. The four-star QB also got to spend a little time with coach Sherrone Moore.

Illinois and Michigan are definitely up there with Nebraska, LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Sellers from USCe be at or very near the top. He's a game changer as we all saw last Fall.

Ziegler got hurt playing for a very bad Benton team this year and missed games. They let their long-time coach go after the season.. The new coach is coming from Huntington and he had been fielding a very solid team there which says ALOT about his coaching abilities. The change should elevate Ziegler's play. I had heard he has had an Arkansas offer since his freshman year. Not confirmed.

Colton Nuss - long term loyalty from his family is beyond worth having him as a Tiger. And if we can help him develop to be as productive as his older brother, it is a win for all.
Might be better than a bidding war that is about nothing but short-term greed.
