Yes, he played for a Charter school in a horrible league. I think they won 8 games his senior season. He was still the No. 1 player in the country his senior year.

Country day is a vey weak program in a very weak district with mighty Ecole Classic (think that's how you spell it).
They havent lost a district game in ten years...

Matt Derenbecker put up 49 on kenny boytin to win a huge tournament..not overrated at all

Years ago county day put their whole team in AAU we beat them by 60 points! (it was Jr high level kids)
Key words "Years Ago", first of all i doubt this even happened and also country day has gotten better since the date you are referring to

I am not sure but they never hold on to their kids because Sports Academy won't go to the big tournaments way away. They stick strictly to AAU. That doesn't cut it these days.

Yeah, dunkdog travels all over the country, which im sure gets them all kinds of exposure, which I'm sure the kids love.

If this kid is 7' as a frosh and has good motor skills, what are the chances he goes to college at all?

Kids have done the euro for a year then declare nba before (brandon jennings most notably), but it's not a concept that has taken off. Unless there are major rule changes between now and then, I'd bet he'll go the college route.

His parents will make him go to college. No way they would let him skip out on it. As it is he's in the classroom a little extra, not because he's stupid, his parents just want him to get the best possible education.

I saw him at the Sunkist during Xmas
He didn't play but he did shoot and he looked very coordinated for being so young

The Garnett comparison is spot on. Could see him filling out and being built like kareem. He is every bit of 6'11

He's 7foot and in 8th grade. Neither of those things lend themselves to being very coordinated, but surprisingly he is. I saw some film on him and was very surprised.

I was told The CD coaches spend a lot of time with him working on footwork. As far as coordination a kid like that should develop a love for a boxers jump rope and there is literally nothing stopping him.

Jump hook
Mid range jump shot
Jump rope
Weight room
??????

Him and his father are in the gym everyday for around 2 hours working on drills. Even if they had practice, he still stays for a few extra hours. The kids work ethic is incredible.

The most impressive thing about Thon to me is his ability to shoot. When you're 7 feet tall, it doesn't matter how old you are, you typically aren't a good shooter, but Thon puts nice touch on his jumpers.
