my only point is there was a lot of positive energy about our season in the recruiting arena and public eye. That all got washed away with the BCS NCG. Yes, I love this season and all the wins were great, but Im also a tiger fan and am not objective. There has only been negative momentum since the championship game, and I hope this great season on the horizon will be the thing to switch it back

LC and DD both committed to Bama before the MNC. The only negative energy since the MNC was Keil decommitting, and that had nothing to do with the game.

They either think Miles is dumb, dont like how he uses his players, or its LSU's location. Most of the recruits we got have been verbaled for along time.

This. Saban, like it or not, is perceived nationally as the best college football coach in the country. Miles, on the other hand, comes off as a bumbler who gets lucky often, and when you hear him speak he sounds like a moron. That's why he's always on the edge when it comes to public's opinion of his abilities. And that is why a debacle like the NC game has done more than the normal amount of damage.

Why do some many people treat pretty much everything as polar extremes? The sunshine pumpers seem to think any and all concerns are = to someone saying the program is "doomed"? And WTF does doomed mean any way? I don't think anyone thinks LSU is headed back to Curly Hallman days, but is it unreasonable to want recruiting class better than #20 coming off a 13-1 SEC title BCS CG season? And coming off such a season to keep the top player in the state from going to a division rival? Maybe its a fluke or an underrated class and next year will be back to top 5, maybe it starts a slow decline, we won't know for a few years, while there is no reason to panic, to say there's nothing at all to worry about either is burying your head in the sand.

LSU will finish ranked 6 or 7 on scout once they fill their class to 25. This will be the 7th straight season in top 10 of recruiting rankings on the most accurate and reliable site; the only service that accounts for the full class of 25 in their rankings. Also I think it's been explained multiple times but rivals and Espn do not have people in La to properly evaluate. Scout has sonny shipp and 247 has Barton Simmons. Rivals and Espn are basically too mainstream now and the fact is Scout > 247 >>>>>>>>>>> Rivals >>>Espn

Les is a damn fine football coach: 75-17, 2 sec titles, 1 national title, 11 or more wins in 5 of 7 season, and a final ranking in the top 5 in 4 of 7 seasons. Plus, lsu will start the season 1 in the preseason polls. He killed the goofball image with this seasons domination. Whether or not he is on Sabans level is debatable, But 1 thing is certain: the body of work at the end of his career makes him the best LSU football coach ever.

So then what is the overall gain for having a recruit with a less than stellar character?

Miles and Saban are 3-3 against each other since Saban headed to Bama. Saban is thought of as better because he has done it at 2 different schools. If Urban Meyer wins one at Ohio State, people will say he passed up Saban. It's all relative to the time the statements get made. The truth is Les Miles is a top 5 coach in college football right now and if he left LSU tomorrow, every program not named Alabama would be on the phone with him. Seriously, look at his record, something like 75-17 at LSU and that was during the SEC golden period when Florida wins 2 NC, Auburn wins one, and Bama wins 2. We are in the hardest conference at the time when it's the most dominant it has ever been and the guy wins 11 games a year roughly.

Coach qualities we all want:
Good recruiting - top 10 classes every year Les has been here
Winning - 10-11 wins/season
Championships - 1 NC, 2 SEC (lost 1 SECCG and 1 NCG)
Consistency - see "Winning"

I don't care how he talks, I care about results and Les gets them. 23-3 over the past 2 years and alot of talent coming back.
