Newsflash, Saban coached at LSU. LSU is well aware of his ways. It’s not just about out working. It’s about a better system. Before NIL that system was cheating. Now it’s about bargaining and cold hard cash.

So you're saying that the foundation of LSU's program was built on cheating (since Saban resurrected your program)? And that none of the reasons I listed for Saban's success in recruiting at Alabama are valid points? Players really aren't interested in winning championships, being first round draft choices, having state of the art facilities, or winning Heisman trophies? It's hard to imagine you can really believe any of that, but you're entitled to believe what you want.

Cool, let em turn into the next Aggie with a bought off big headed mega class that can't function. I'm all for it.

I kinda trust that saban could get it to function a lot more than goofy arse jimbo.

You’re on an LSU board trying to convince everyone that Saban is all above board with his recruiting?

We won’t have the loaded 5***** star roster these schools can put together with NIL

1) We have several 5 stars in this class. 2) Many of the best players to come through LSU were not 5 stars.

Did I say anything that wasn't true? Yes, the run we're enjoying can't last forever. But historically, our bad periods haven't been too long or frequent, either. The whole game is changing so much, though, it's hard to tell what's going to happen in the future.

1st, our program was resurrected over two tenures. Saban was the 2nd tenure. There is zero doubt that he improved facilities as well as get the proper systems in place to “win” recruiting battles. Just look at what Georgia and Kirby did pre-NIL to understand part of “the process” is paying players.

2nd, please tell me that you aren’t that naive. You wrote that to try to convince yourself that bama is the only school that offers that? Who are y’all playing in the playoffs? Oh and take a look at the number of LSU players in the NFL and what they are doing. GTFO

I probably should have chosen Don Quixote as my username, huh? All above board? I don't know about that. I don't think any of the major colleges are totally above board (not even Vanderbilt). I just think it's not realistic to think that's the only reason Saban is successful. And it's not realistic to think your program (no matter which program it is) isn't doing things that are shady. They all do what they feel they can get away with.

Nothing personal man. None of us feel too good about the prostitution feel of cfb.

Still have a top 6 class before you even factor in transfers so we are good either way.

It’s just these types of recruitments remind us all of what this is becoming and it sucks.

Fill your roster with talented whores and hope to keep them year to year.

OR

Be competitive, try to find a balance between paying a fair price and finding kids who really give a shite about where they play and accept that doing so means you will likely never have a top 2-3 roster based on talent but it’ll be much easier to give a shite about the kids you cheer for.

Doesn’t seem to be a good prognosis either way does it

I’m saying you’re not going to make much headway with a red ‘A’ behind your name.

I agree, the direction the game has taken sucks. With the transfer portal and no waiting period, how do you build depth, and develop project type players? You invest time, effort, and scholarships to develop players only to have them transfer out for NIL.

Its kind of surprising that more of these kids don't look at Saban turning 72 next season and wonder how many more years he has left at a high level. Historically all the best coaches have started to decline around this age - Bowden, Paterno, etc. There will be a lot of negative recruiting against this at some point it will work.

Yeah I wonder where Pruitt learned his ways that got Tennessee caught, surely he didn’t see that going on at Bama and knew he had to do the same thing to keep up… don’t be stupid, yeah he helps that Saban is the goat with college football. But he reached that’s status by always having more talented players.

Yep. I just don’t see how it’s good for college football. And lord help the small schools or schools that simply don’t prioritize football. They have zero shot of keeping their good players now.

People say you have to stockpile classes….I get it, but as you said there will be a greatly reduced number of kids willing to stick around to provide that elite depth. Hell kids demand to be redshirted in one breathe and then want a guarantee that the next year they’ll be handed the job bc God forbid anyone have to wait a year or earn it anymore

That speech he gave was a damnation on his boosters and how disappointed he was that they didn’t beat out aTm last year. Well, they are stepping it up this year. Win at all costs, no pun intended.

If he learned it at Bama, he didn't learn it very well. That was pretty amateurish stuff there, to have the head coach be directly involved. He must have skipped Bagman 101.

I'm just a naïve country boy, but if universities are really offering these 17 - 18 year olds (actually greedy mom and dad when there's one) this kind of money then college football is gone, long gone.

We will all remember 2019 as the last college football season as we knew it. Things are forever changed after that season. Glad we won the Ship that year.
