"LSU is pretty much the best situation for most Texas kids"

I would argue for a Texas kid that is not necessarily true. Despite being down recently, UT is still one of the all-time great program. And now that TAMU is in the SEC and a top notch program that provides another great option for those kids.

Sure LSU pulls some good ones from Texas, but by numbers their top notch talent is still going to go to UT, TAMU, and in many case OU.

Do you live in Alabama??? I do and I can tell you that LSU nor any other fanbase holds a candle to the state of Alabama when it comes to college football. Ask anyone who grew up here and they will tell you that you're asked one basic question when moving here or growing up here, "Who are you for?". If you're native to Alabama then they expect you to pick Bama or Auburn and that's it.
You have no idea how it really is in this state when it comes to Alabama and Auburn football.

IDGAF, the best should at least consider LSU, but the real issue here is we need all the next best athletes who don't go to LSU to go to Tulane.

Do you think these kids give a shite what we think, it's all about family, education, and a chance to go pro. This is a message board for people with to much time on time on their hands.

Louisiana state university competes with Alabama every year for the sec title, football is a big deal and something louisiana is very proud of. You wouldnt have minded seeing laron Landry, glen Dorsey, chad jones... And countless others suit up for BAMA? No big deal? Those are the type of players BAMA is now taking from our state. It's a regional pride thing, and I for one would be very upset to see our best cause their local population to suffer at the benefit of another population when we offer everything they do. It's obviously their right to go wherever they want, but I don't see the reason unless its the change of scenery similar to USC or Florida state and so on. I took The message Landon Collins was trying to send as this: I'm better than everyone here, I don't care about anyone here, I'm going to play for the team I think will beat y'all and you can look at me as superior. If BAMA offered a better chance at the league or a more fun environment then id understand

i think other states around us, texas, florida, georgia, carolinas. have a lot of transplants.

you dont really find people from other states coming and settling down in louisiana. most of the time its people who are from la and are just moving back.

Guess thats how i see it. kids in other states arent raised a certain fan bevause their parents arent from that state.

this. It's the same in every state. Local kids are generally expected to go to the local school and the fan bases tend to be aggravated when they don't. Just the way it is every where. You think Alabama fans don't get pissed when a top Alabama recruit chooses to go out of state or even to Auburn then you are delusional.

Like it or not you described the mentality of a lot of LSU fans. That's part of the nature of having such a rabid fan base. I guess it's hard for some fans to keep things in perspective. When big in state players decide not to come to LSU the reaction can be off the charts. I am in disbelief at times when I watch some of these players and parents feeding into the circus. Enough pressure exists even if absolutely nothing is said. These players should ignore everybody and do what's best for them.

But how can you seriously not think about LSU if your from Louisiana? And usually when we go out of state its for a lineman here or there are a big reciever or quarterback. The state produces athletes 5'10 to 6'1 and 170 to 190 lbs. As stated before we don't have as many people as Texas, Florida, California..... so why not stay and let everyone know hoe good the state is in football

wryder1 is spot on! I have lived in Mobile & Dothan & now live 16 miles from AL line in Florida...there's no way the pressure on LA hs players is equal to that in Alabama.
