This " All LA kids need to go to LSU " mentality needs to change

I always feel like the La recruits feel FORCED to go to LSU. I know some kids who are choosing colleges right now and they hate the fact that everyone thinks they're going to LSU just because it's what the family wants or because they live in Louisiana. Kids that age have opinions too and they want them to matter. You hear Noil talking up A&M and LF talking up Bama. The only reason they're doing that is so they don't feel that they HAVE to go to LSU. They want the freedom, and based on their hard work, they deserve it.
This mentality does exist based on the fact that eighty thousand thread are started every year about an LA recruit who decides to go to another school. We should instead move on and be excited about the recruits we did keep and the OOS recruits we pulled too. Les Miles and his staff do a great job every year, and we are always very fortunate.

Agreed
Pretty hypocritical to openly take Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, and Carolina players that have serious offers from the states premier schools, and cry that Louisiana kids want to leave.

If they don't play football nobody gives a shite.

LSU is pretty much the best situation for most Texas, Arkansas, Miss, and especially Louisiana kids because it's the best football school in the region. It's arguably the best college venue in the country and that is not even debatable.

Arkansas
Rarely do we get a player from Arkansas, though. I believe Brett Helms was the last player we had from there.

Well, personally I just don't see how most people growing up in LA wouldn't want to go to LSU these days considering how devout our fans are and I would assume pass that onto their children. Kids who want to leave I usually assume just have had bad experiences here and want to get out of the state. LA kids going to Bama especially blows my mind considering our hate for them.
I'll say this, I'll understand someone wanting to go away to somewhere like Miami or USC or Big10 country because of the big difference, but staying Deep South doesn't make a whole lot of sense

I think so too. If I was a 2014 recruit, I would definitely go to LSU, but I would still want it to be my choice.

Yeh, cause Mississippi and Alabama kids aren't "pushed" toward the in-state schools

It's not "All LA kids need to go to LSU"....
...just all the real, real, ridiculously good LA kids need to go to LSU
