In most states, particularly in the South. I am already hearing this unofficially here in football crazy Alabama. (Don’t tell me what everyone is saying in public anyone can google that.) This really sucks for the kids, but will be bad for evaluation etc too. I hold this is wrong

It’s going to be a long year sadly.

Our country has royally fricked this mess up. There is no way one of the best countries in the world can’t achieve what everyone else has.

I don't know about that, but the MHSAA here in Mississippi met yesterday and has pushed everything back two weeks. Right now, the first games will be played Sept. 4th. That means they will not play the first two games that were scheduled, they will pick up with the third game.

Glad that LSU has the staff that they do. They usually don't miss

The mortality rate is decreasing. That is the only number that matters. People NEED to be exposed to the virus to acquire the antibodies to gain immunity. In the meantime, the mortality rate Is decreasing, it is a positive sign that the virus is attenuating. If we all just hide, we delay the inevitable and drag the whole thing out.

China is shutting down some cities again and Europe is still mostly locked down. You are an idiot if you believe the cable news propaganda that only the US is having issues with COVID. Not surprised though since most people are stupid.

The mortality rate is a LAGGING indicator at least 3 weeks behind the positive test increases.

How many people have been asymptomatic, or barely symptomatic with covid, never been tested and recovered???? Common sense says that number has to be significant. Now divide the "covid deaths" into what the ACTUAL number of cases are. The mortality rate is very low.

In Louisiana, we need to get to Phase 4. That is a long way off since it has become a political mess where people intentionally avoid complying with the very actions that would enable us to have football. These same people will tell you they support football, but will not make the simplest sacrifices to allow it to occur.

I agree with this.

People on both sides can make it seem simple when it’s anything but. Closing schools could have terrible repercussions. Kids need to be in school. Parents who work need their kids to be in school. Sports are an important part of all of our enjoyment of life.

The repercussions of fully opening schools could be terrible. Some kids will get covid, but most will do fine. But they may contribute to the spread. And there are many adults at schools, teachers and support staff, some of whom may die if they get covid, others who might bring covid back to more vulnerable family members. Football basketball and volleyball games will lead to congregations where covid will spread.

Health workers may eventually burn out. Others needing other treatments will suffer if hospitals are congested for months with covid patients.

People need to stop acting like this is not complicated when it is crazy complicated. People need to stop acting like there are not two competing and valid points of view on opening schools and having sports. People need to understand we are in new territory and that what we decide today might have to change tomorrow. A school on one side of town could open September 1 and do great, a school on the other side of town could have a massive covid outbreak. September’s plan you worked on for weeks might not work in October.

It’s not the rights fault and not the lefts fault, it’s Mother Natures fault for giving us a virus pandemic that we haven’t seen in a hundred years. It’s gonna be a clusterfrick when we try to open schools. We have to get it done as safely as possible and stay out of extreme corners.

you're right. This should never have been a political issue, but it is now. I'll hold back on putting blame on any one person for the sake of not pissing people off.

Don’t tell me what I NEED to do. I’ll decide that for myself based on the information that I determine is valid.
