It’s open for FCS and grad transfers now and players are already pre-announcing their intentions to enter it on Monday.

There are hundreds already in it. It’s going to surpass 3000 players. These recruiting and evaluation staffs are going to be working overtime.

Unlike high school recruiting where they’ve had years to follow and evaluate, this is such a shortened window.

Sure, they’ve been scouting and predicting who will enter and maybe tampering, but there will be names totally out of the blue, due to coaching changes, etc.

Then you have all the potential “diamonds in the rough” at the lower levels that must be evaluated.

Yeah it’s going to be interesting to see who we are going to be going after. We should be able to go pick who want or at least be in contention with whoever we want. With the season we have had, the history and most importantly because of BK

I know there are lots of holes to fill, but I think running back is the most important.

LSU needs a plug-and-play 1,000-yard rusher. No team feared our run game.

You cannot win big at the SEC level with your QB as your leading rusher.

Just need to get Zavion Thomas to transfer from Mississippi State. He’s from John Ehret and we should’ve signed him out of high school.

He’s been their PR from day 1 and has a good average and returned 1 for a TD.

Need 2 DTs. Even though we had the bad break with MS in FSU game, we were very fortunate to not even have Roy or Wingo get injured enough to miss snaps. They played a lot of football.

I like the Dowdell kid as well.

Hope we offer & get a visit, as his hometown is only approx. 75 miles from BR.

Diamonds in the rough can be found!

Believe the DE, Verse, for FSU was at Albany last year and now he’s a projected early round pick as a RS Soph.

Hitting the Portal is as important as ever

Emery if he could hold onto the ball and reach his full potential combined with Williams could have been a really solid 1-2 punch

Should there be a "transfer Portal" board like coaching changes and signing day?

I know the board speculates on incoming transfers, but do we have a good guess of outgoing transfers?

Nobody knows, but you can always look to the guys who dont play much as ones most likely to hit the portal. Not all will obviously but those are the players most likely to leave.

The key this time around will NOT be losing what should be returning starters (like McGlothern, Ricks, etc)

Dowdell is a high school kid. Why are you bringing him up in a Portal thread?

I would be shocked if we lost any contributors. Hopefully we don't lose any young talent that just doesn't want to sit.

The ones you want to lose are the bad attitudes, academic problems and evaluation fails.

I don't know about biggest need but it's certainly at the top. I would say DB is too with how much we're losing. Getting guys like Ricks would be nice but it's going to be hard for a DB to play day 1 in House's scheme. He plays too much zone which is a nightmare for young DBs. Probably why we never saw Welch this year.

Goodwin is a good RB but he's injury prone. We need an elite RB. Imagine an elite guy with JD's feet. The defenses key in on JD so much there's plenty of opportunities for RBs to feast. Someone has to see that and want to come to LSU.

In no particular order: RB, TE, the entire secondary, DL, LB. Safety is a huge concern next year. There's nobody there outside Burns. Sage Ryan is a bust and Davis is a RB now. You have 3 guys leaving there. It's arguably the biggest need position. Converse and Garner are going to NFL so you have to get at least 1-2 replacements there. Need some depth on DL to help Mason Smith and Wingo and possibly 1 pass rush DE. LB I have no idea why this hasn't been a bigger priority. I haven't been impressed with Penn at all and Jones disappeared. Penn makes a good play then absolutely shits the bed on the next one with a terrible angle.

Difference between USC basically going from a doormat to a playoff team in one year.

They got an elite QB, 2 elite WRs, an elite RB, and a good backup RB from another team in their same conference.

Caleb Williams has over 4000 total yards and 44 total TDs. The 2 RBs have both averaged over 6 yards a carry and combined for 1500 yards and 14 TDs. The 2 elite WRs both missed 2 games each with injuries, but still combined for 85 receptions 1350 yards and 12 TDs. Jerry Rice's son was also a transfer and he ate with 400 receiving yards and 2 TDs.

LSU needs to pull in more elite guys this year. Immediate impacts like a top RB and CB.
