This dude is phenomenal.

Best high school QB I have ever seen in person. And he's a freshman.

I refuse to believe LSU and every other major college program wouldn't be all over this kid. He's that good.

Neil Weiner runs a great program and is building something special. Basketball program has made the state championship rounds in Lake Charles for years in a row(two former Dunham students currently on LSU's roster). Great academics and Christian education(this means a lot to some people).

They went to the Dome last year. Had a great chance to beat Saint Charles.

4.0 at Dunham isn’t that difficult. Is a really impressive prospect though

Everything you said is 100% spot on except the academics. And that’s ok because there needs to be a school for everyone.

Great academics

Come on man. I get it if you like Dunham or your kids go there or whatever but they have, by far, the worst academics of any private school in Baton Rouge aside from maybe Parkview Baptist. You send your kids to Catholic, Uhigh, or Episcopal if you’re looking for good academics and everyone knows that

according to Niche.com

Dunham
avg. ACT- 28

Uhigh
avg. ACT- 28

Catholic
avg. ACT- 29

Episcopal
avg. ACT- 29

Yep, huge difference there.

I made a 32 on the ACT and I was not a good student in comparison. They’re drawing high IQ kids from good families who are going to do well on the ACT. That has nothing to do with their academics as a school or how good they are at preparing kids for college success and putting kids into good colleges as a whole, if you really think Dunham is comparable to those 3 schools then I don’t know what to tell you

How is this different from other privates in Baton Rouge?

I agree Episcopal offers superior academics. Catholic offers more options due to the size of the school.

Uhigh isn't what it used to be. I know several families that have pulled there kids out of that school and put them in the other BR privates because the classes sizes have gone up, the quality of teaching has gone down, and the woke has gone way up.

ETA: another data point

Class of '23 National Merit semi-finalist

CHS- 11
EHS- 6
DHS- 3
UHS- 1

Considering the sizes of the respective schools, Dunham holds its own. Uhigh does not.

The funniest thing about how these schools are talked about as if there actually is this huge difference in quality of education.

They're all on the same level.

I’m not really so sure that the number of national merit semi finalist at a school is really a data point to consider when comparing one schools academics to another’s. But since you brought it up, this years numbers were released last week in the linked advocate article below. Baton Rouge numbers were as follows:

Baton Rouge Higb - 27
CHS - 17
Episcopal - 7
Lab School - 4
St Michael’s - 2
Dunham - 2
St Joseph’s - 1

LINK

The result that shocked me more than anything was St Joseph’s given the size of the school and how so many of their alumni just rave about how great the school is academically.

Also in 2023, UHS had 3 national merit semi finalist. All 3 were finalist.

When you go back and look at past advocate articles, the number really varies from year to year, school to school. St Joes had 6 one year 3 years ago. 1 this year. I doubt seriously the level of education dropped during that time span. That award, to me, is more individualistic than representative of the level of a schools academics.

Ptguru21, Forever,
Obviously not too familiar with Baton Rouge schools. There are some excellent private schools and Dunham is one of them. My daughters all attended, so I have understanding you may not. This year, at The Dunham School, the average ACT average is 28 for ALL students, 33 for the the top 20% of students, 3 national merit scholars, 27 AP scholars. They are a small, Christian school that only graduates 60-70 each year. Their academics are top notch. Looking forward to seeing their young quarterback, hopefully he develops and attends LSU.

A lot of stupid in this statement. And I’m sure you have no way to back up your baseless claims either.
