Coleman is a better version of Swilling and a way better scorer.
Coleman/Swilling arent really versions of each other at all.
Swilling/Isaac would be a good comparison. Swilling is stockier, both are athletic, solid defenders.

Excellent. One roster filler who serves no purpose given the players already on our team coming right up.
This makes no sense even if players are transferring. Just eat next year Johnny and save the scholarships. No one is going to damn you for your first year.
I will say that at least he's a JUCO and not a Nigerian who some seem to believe is the next coming of the guy in The Air Up There.

If we are going to be running 100 mph all season, wouldn't we want more guards as fresh legs?

Swilling is more of a combo guard and could play the point in a backup role.
And this...good utility man, especially if we are going to be pressing like the "40 mins of hell" and running the "Secondary Break" like UNC...

Yeah right
If CJJ doesnt go at least .500 in SEC last year people are going to calling the decision to hire him a gigantic mistake and saying we coulda had such and such person.
I do find it funny that in the previous 12 months LSU B-Ball only had 1 Commit...in 2 weeks un CJJ they have 3 and folks are complaining?
There was only going to be 7 scholly players on next year squad...not real supportive of the system CJJ stated he wants to run...

Our roster looks like Missouri's of last year...not caliber wise, but size and makeup.

Johnson would have signed Coleman. FACT.
The Jones hiring probably helped with Hammink, but he was almost assuredly coming here too.
So, to break it down, Jones has signed Swilling.
Before everyone interprets my analysis as "propping up" TJ or "downgrading" CJJ, I love CJJ's aggressiveness in the 2013 class, particularly in Texas. It's a state I feel we've never fully exploited in basketball for some reason.
I just wish he would save the scholarships and use them for the 2013 and 2014 classes instead of handing out scholarships to players with questionable talent.

You stupid motherfricker. Are you an undercover Bama fan? Are you an alter? You're too fricking stupid to be a real fan. This thread is about the commitment of a future tiger. Stop shitting on our players. This isn't your first time. A dumb bitch like yourself should be banned.

You'd rather swilling over ralston?
i just dont like Turner. He's a shooting guard who is a bad shooter. And he doesn't do much else.
Like ProjectP said, we really don't need either Turner or Swilling. But id rather see what Swilling has at this point.

Swilling isn't exactly a sharp shooter either.

The recruiting board has different rules. You should keep your bullshite somewhere else.
I'm glad we got a new player. Support LSU or gtfo when it concerns new commits.

CAn he score at a more efficient rate than 35%?
that's all i really care about.

Looks like he shot 40% from the field and 29% from 3. I know he didn't play much at St. Joes and those percentages were terrible.

What did I say that was against the rules? I simply said that, given the current players on our roster, Swilling serves no purpose.
He's not a shooter. He's not really a scorer. Some have said he's probably a better defensive player than offensive player.
I want LSU to "elevate" the program. Signing players like Swilling does not accomplish this task. However, signing players like Bridgewater, Martin, and Victor "elevate" the program to another level.
For every Swilling we sign, that's another scholarship we can't use on high school player in the 2013 class, which is a class where all assistant coaches will be in place and CJJ will have an entire cycle to target and recruit players.
It doesn't make any sense, given that many have said Swilling is not an impact player given our needs. We're loaded at guard. Adding an undersized JUCO shooting guard who averaged 12 PPG doesn't seem to make much sense, even if a guard on our roster is transferring.

that sucks pretty bad too

Swilling Juco Stats
Here are his stats for the past year. I personally hope this is just another rumor.

JJ likes lock down defenders. If Swilling Jr. fits this bill, then that could be a reason JJ signed player. JJ may think he can coach a player up so he becomes better than his stat's show.
Swilling is a 75% FT shooter. JJ loves player with high FT percentages. Over time JJ will have very few players on your roster that shoot less than 70% and above from the stripe. FT's win games and JJ knows it.
