USC has awful track record with defensive recruits. Tackett Curtis was smart and left before full implosion. Remember Korey Foreman from around five years ago? He was #3 player in national 247 and did nothing. Remember Raesjon Davis a few years back? Top 50 player who committed to LSU and went to USC last minute. Barely played. Domani Jackson, top 10 247 nationally. Did zippo at USC and transferred to Bama

Bottom line: If Stewart ends up at USC bc of the big money, it will show he doesn't have a lot of confidence in himself long term. I can't think of one USC defensive player that has developed and done anything great while there in many years. USC is a total shite show, but especially on defense. He's got Peoples and Bo Davis, best of the best, in his home state. Seems like an easy decision.

Is unreal how college football has deteriorated so darn rapidly. I know, I know it has always been around - and it has - but not like this - transferring is out of control, the $$$$$ is obscene, free agency rules, crazy number of years of eligibility

You can’t come up with any valid reason why what is happening today shouldn’t have always been happening unless you are a communist. College football is finally adhering to our capitalistic society. There is NOTHING more American than how college athletes are done now.

They are in high demand.

They are in low supply.

They should cost a pretty penny.

A bigger deal than the Underwood one?

LSU offered Underwood 1.5 million per year for 4 years. Total 6 million.

Larry Ellison’s girlfriend doubled it for Michigan. 3 million per year for 4 years. Total 12 million.

It is happening because the NCAA wishes to survive....no other reason. Conferences of the top 64 would have broken away and stood up an alternative to the NCAA

I'm hearing stuff as well... but it's now an argument between me, myself and I. I told myself to beat and then I left, leaving just me.

Getting a sure bet out of the portal is cheaper and you could get a Dlineman and a safety for that

This assumes that there are a D lineman and safety worth it in the portal. Also it depends on how many teams are portal “shopping” for those players. It could actually be more expensive

I understand what you’re saying but when you’re throwing around money like what the OP is saying, for a kid that has played 10 games in high school, that’s just dumb. At least the portal, you know what you’re getting. This kid could be a huge bust or a huge boom, there just isn’t enough tape to know. Ask yourself this, would we be throwing this money around if he weren’t from Louisiana? If we pay him premium just because he is from
Louisiana, just watch what happens next year.

Be consistent in what you offer and sell kids on the NFL. It’s crucial we hire the best coaches that can get them to the NFL by developing them. We have enough money to get what we need, we just need to be smart because we don’t have enough money to piss it away.

This is based on 10 Games in HS, potential if things work out, moving up a year and a staff who hasn't excelled on making Freshman Day 1 impact players.
Love Bo Davis think if he gets him they can coach him up but he will be a 17yo playing vs 21-23Yo OL..thats a big gap even for a big kid.
He supposedly has a "big big entourage" of handlers with all their hands out....Thats a big risk

I would pay way more then this.. 1 the first championship is hardest so it makes sense to over pay and then maintain success. Second once you are a historic program it’s easier to stay that way. Right now as I understand it NIL has no salary cap. I would break the bank to cement my legacy as the first dynasty of the the new CFL playoffs. Evenly salary caps or rules will come and and they will level the playing field.

Every NIL should be a huge signing bonus in escrow until 1 full season playoffs has passed. And then incredible incentive laden then on out. If we don’t make the metrics we don’t spend money. If we break records we can afford to spend whatever we want

Call me crazy but we’ve missed on in state defensive linemen. Should we have paid 7-8 figures for Freak Johnson or Maason Smith? This guy didn’t play as much high school ball as those two and they were “locks” to be elite. Both were average

It's impossible for anyone to answer that question without knowing what our total annual budget is. Anyone who gives you an answer here is just talking out of their arse
