Of course spring practice and games need to occur.

That being said, anyone have particular interior DT transfer names to keep an eye on?

I don't want to be an arse, but there really is no way to know that this far out. There might be a few that people could guess they may enter the portal, but there's 3 months for things to change.

And they'd have to come from outside the SEC as I understand it. Or else the player would have to sit a year.

Patrick Jenkins from Tulane would be extremely welcomed.

Shea has stated explicitly that there's at least one DT--as in, a specific person--who is already all but locked up at the moment, to be made official once the spring portal period opens. He didn't name names (obviously) but he said that this particular guy is a legitimate starter-caliber player.

No idea who that might mean, but the timing of it all seems to suggest that it's someone (a) at a program without much chance of fighting off the big boys to keep him, and (b) who may be graduating this semester (or has some other academics-related reason for delaying his transfer/enrollment). It probably also means that (c) there's some type of connection with LSU that he doesn't have to other big programs (otherwise there'd be other big programs fighting and we wouldn't be so certain that we'd be able to land him).

I'm not really sure who fits those criteria, but I'm sure someone on here can probably figure it out given enough time and effort lol.

Edit: just saw someone else say Patrick Jenkins from Tulane. That actually fits perfectly. At Tulane (who surely can't beat out LSU), could very well be graduating this semester (enrolled a semester early but also transferred so the timeline fits), from Louisiana and formerly recruited by LSU. Hell yeah, that's a solid take imo.

Going back to whatI said, nobody is going to out themselves if they're going through spring. We can guess, but we're just going to have to wait.

I feel like if this wasn’t the case you would have seen LSU been more aggressive in pursuing DTs that are currently in the portal.

Then there is also the Dandy Don thread....
LSU Recruiting thread
quote:

“I’m not going to name the other target who I hear has interest in LSU, but I will tell you that he’s an experienced DT who played on a staff member’s former team and will be graduating in May.”

So people starting guessing a DT from Texas or Florida or ND.

Of course, if Slade Nagle shows up that could mean it's the Tulane kid.

Pat Jenkins would really anchor our dline. He’s played against the big boys too and done well

I think his eligibility was exhausted at Western Carolina University in 1964.
