And this is why LSU will lose out on Speedy and he will go elsewhere. I doubt Les Miles is going to go along with the spill that he can play significant time on both sides of the ball. Other coaches will embrace the idea (lie) and basically trick Speedy into believeing fantasy.

I dont see how Les couldn't let him try. If he can do it, why the hell not? He's certainly talented enough to take seriously.

We should just let LF kick field goals and punt, save us a spot in this year's class and be a nightmare on fakes

So a guy who's never played defense and only played some at WR will somehow beat out (work with me here) Paris, Brown, White, Robinson, Toliver, Lewis, who have been playing defense for years and 9-11 WRs to get playtime on that side?

He still has to learn his routes to play Cam's system and to get on the field on D, he'd have to learn Chavis's scheme. Dude will have to learn two positions that are loaded with talent.

He's never ever played DB? I doubt that. It wouldn't hurt to give him a Spring…maybe after a week he won't be as motivated to do it anymore.

Pretty sure those guy are LSU... he won't compete against any of them if he commits elsewhere. Your argument has merit but he hasn't commited to LSU.

Please edit the title to read better...something like "Speedy wants to play on both sides of the ball" would suffice...thanks

I love Peterson, but let's be real. The dude balled hard and had issues with cramps. Why make him play more?

I'm going off his point if Noil played here that he should get a shot to play on defense and offense if he wants. He's just going to fall farther behind the curve and both of those positions will be packed with talent. Get on the field and don't know your assignments, get on the field and don't know your routes. Hell, both Beckham and Landry had to improve on that in the offseason. All the athletic skill in the world won't help you at those two spots, if you don't know where to be or when to be there.

I would hope CLM and FW can figure a way to address this and keep Speedy interested if it winds up really mattering. In addition to playing wide receiver and maybe some wildcat QB and running back, how about having Speedy be the main kick and punt returner-- that way he can play lots of offense and special teams?

IMO, I would think Speedy would be hindering himself by splitting time by playing both offense and defense if his ultimate goal is getting to the NFL.

Speedy knows how to run routes, he just needs to learn LSUs playbook like any other freshman WR. He has played some WR in highschool but since he was the best athlete they wanted the ball in his hands every play at Karr. Do you remember Early Doucet? He also played Quarterback in highschool but came out as the number 1 wide receiver in the country. He did very well in college.
