Yet the class is ranked right around where we would finish pre-NIL days

Some posters just like to melt and are eternal pessimists. LSU is fine and will continue to be fine.

I mean we can compete on the base level. But it’s pretty obvious LSU isn’t getting into the high dollar bidding wars.

LSU has more than most. Just not the top 4-5

Without NIL I fully believe we lock up the #1 class

No school has Nike $$ behind its recruiting.

What I find hilarious is the posters saying we can’t compete with Michigan and USC in NIL, yet we’re going to finish with better and higher ranked classes than both.

I think two schools clearly have NIL figured out (Texas and Oregon) and everyone else is still figuring out how best to utilize it. Luckily for LSU, we’re actually pretty good and not near as bad at it as the rant would lead you to believe.

Right, we could have blew our load on underwood and Stewart like they did. Team game though folks.

This inherently false.

LSU was paying top of market for Underwood.

And has deals with other 5 stars and high 4 stars.

Sometimes a billionaire just wants it more.

I mean we had top 3 and top 5 classes pre-NIL days

we don’t get Underwood bought out from under us Pre-NIL.

There was money for sure, but Larry Ellison wasn’t dropping million dollar duffle bags off.

Half of the melting comes from weirdo trolls that do this as a sad hobby.

Players were getting bought pre-NIL. It was just 100k behind closed doors instead of a million legally.

Extremely rarely was it anywhere close to that.

I’m okay with poor little ole LSU having 4 5 stars and 20 blue chips after the last few weeks

Okay, 20k-40k and a 50-80k vehicle.

What was Cam Newton’s price? $180k. Back in 2010?

Point remains. There was always bidding wars. It was just bagmen and business decisions then.

Now that it’s out in the open, and legal, players can see a market value and want what the last man got.

bullshite. It just wouldn’t have been public.

Kid was always going to Michigan unless they had not offered him anywhere even close to what we offered him. Had their season not been as shitty as it was, I doubt they would have offered him as much as they did and he might have stuck with his commitment to LSU, But add the shitty season and his being the number 1 recruit at the most important position on the field and right in their backyard… they had no choice but to go huge and get him and he knew it. Hell, I don’t blame him. I’d cheer for Michigan for the next 5 years too for 12million.

Larry Ellison was not spending millions “under the table”
