I think, like others have said, it would come down to what staff members leave. If Wilson or Cooper leave then it's a different story.

The moment it's announced that Miles is leaving, Saban, Trooper, Dooley, Mullen, Petrino are all going to set up shop in La. until NSD. First to steal whatever in state recruits they can get their hands on, and then try to outbid each other to get Wilson on their staffs.

FACT!

if clm leaves then orgeron is the person that wilson "TRUSTS" the most. wilson for sure takes freak, then if we lose mett (wilson and clm recruited him) that would be devastating enough.

the real problem is 2012 and beyond, you have wilson, miles, saban, dooley, orgeron, fisher, muschamp all with good la. connections. we didn't have any successful coaches with la. connections recruiting the state when saban left.

losing CLM is really a "BIG DEAL"

Recruits and their families really like Miles

Something a few Rantards just don't get (cough, cough Maximus, cough, cough). And I hear the HS coaches like him light years better than little Nicky (JT Curtis notwithstanding)

Yes, Frank Wilson is going to go to a school that has 15 scholarships for the next 3 seasons

With the wisdom on the boards the past few days, I'm surprised Chicken isn't making this a pay board yet.

Say bye to several OOS recruit/commitments and possibly some in state.

Mettenberger committed to Miles and Crowton for example. When Saban left Miles did a great job of minimizing the losses by retaining several of the staff's key recruiters. The hypothetical replacement of Les would be well-served to follow that example but not everyone would do that. That's the scary part.

If Alleva is smart, he'll make Frank Wilson staying a part of the deal with the new coach which would seriously limit our losses.

Every time there is a coaching change at a school there is always a loss of some players. That will be the case here.

A lot of people just don't realize that Miles is a big reason why we have landed such great players during his tenure. Recruits really like him.

Few if any. Kids want to win and get on TV b/c they all think they will play in the NFL. LM leaving doesn't affect that.

This is my biggest fear.

Somewhere between every recruit and no recruits.

Seriously, how can anyone answer this question?

absolutely correct. and maybe chavis too. if the new coach is worth a shite in recruiting, he should be able to sell these guys on staying. the majority of them anyway.

I have even a more serious question, IF Miles were to leave, who would be named the temporary head coach? Crowton?....gulp!!!

I think they only do that during the season. They would just have a vacancy (like Michigan and UCONN now) and find a new head coach.

These players aren't coming for Miles, they are coming for LSU.

Not true in many cases. The players that choose Auburn or consider Auburn this year are citing the "family" atmosphere which is being promoted by Trooper Taylor. These kids want to win and want to feel comfortable. The coaches dictate the direction of the program. If uncertainty enters the picture, there will be some drop off.

What coach do you know that will not want to bring in their own guys? He can't have his guys and Les Miles' guys too. What coach do you know that will not have his own philosophy, scheme, and ideas about building a program whether right or wrong? Remember, LSU will be the one needing a coach. And the coach they want will likely already have a job, therefore, he will have some leverage.
