Why did they take paez?
They didn't take any dts in the prior portal period and then take paez. It makes zero sense.

Because he’s a D1 defensive tackle who is huge and can give us some depth? Not saying he’s going to be a superstar, but he will at least be in the rotation and that’s a win

If the goal was to take 2-3 DTs and one pops up that you think could help, you have to take him. There was no guarantee anyone better would be in the portal and you need the numbers.
