You are Right! We have to match them a couple times and at least show them we are willing to spend the money on these can't miss players.

In his first two years at LSU:

He lost to Auburn. At home.
He lost to UAB. At home.
He lost to Florida
He lost to Arkansas
He lost to Tennessee
He lost to Florida. At home. By 30.
He lost to Ole Miss. At home.

He lost 5 games in year 3.

So what are we supposed to do in your mind? As fans? because we're just.... fans.

Saban is the best because he’s been out paying players for years.

He’s an average on field coach without superior talent.

A&M beat him last year at paying players.

He’s not going to let that happen again.

Other schools just have to catch up.

“We’re not selling used cars”

I've been saying this for years. It's why he couldn't make it in the NFL.

He has been #1 in recruiting for the past 13 years, maybe #2 once or twice. So why hasn't he won it all more often? Then add in the portal last year as he nabbed the #1 OT, the #1 RB, the #1 WR, the #1 LB, and the #1 CB (Eli). He had the best QB Bama has probably ever had, and Bama still couldn't find a way to win the West.

Gerry DiNardo might not have been able to select and retain great coordinators, but he could recruit, and he left Saban a fully stocked team.

Oh, and which teams did Saban beat in his first two years that were vastly more talented?

To be fair, all coaches look better with elite players. Saban understands this better than anyone. I don't think he's some wizard football mind that is head and shoulders better than everyone. He relies on elite coordinators and talent to remain on top. When he doesn't have that, he's extremely vulnerable as you've seen the last two years. The portal and NIL has changed everything.

Saban has built a recruiting juggernaut the sport has never seen over the last 15 years. It’s not going to flip overnight.

Better throw Georgia in there as well. They now rival BAMA every year. And frankly under Mark Richt were the proverbial recruiting juggernaut every year, which is why Richt ultimately lost his job as fans demanded championships from yearly top 1-5 recruiting classes.

quote:

We got plenty of guys Alabama would gladly taken. If we keep getting these top 5 classes, keep developing, and keep grinding, we’ll be back in the title discussion. But Saban is the best and he’s really fricking hard to beat on and off the field.

And LSU will always struggle to get to the top, while BAMA and Georgia START OFF AT THE TOP. Big difference.

We had the best dbs for years and couldn't beat Saban! Offensive line is where it counts and thats where we are already seeing BK recruit and get the best.

In the past do you think we get Campbell, jones and zalance heard. No way.

We wanted Ricks obviously but it's not going to kill us.

Get a grip. LSU isn’t going to be held hostage by an 18 year old kid over money. BK isn’t Jimbo. This one sucks to lose but one DB doesn’t make or break an entire team.

I say NO. This has the potential to start corrupting our locker room, A&M style. Don't want anyone for ridiculous money!

FIFY. It's really not that hard to understand. You can complain about money bags all you want, but the real money is the NFL which he can accurately sell recruits on having the best route to that.

LSU kicked his arse at Michigan State

That’s when he saw the difference in talent.

He lost a lot of games at LSU.

Les Miles beat him

Ed Orgeron beat him

Brian Kelly beat him.

He’s a little cheating bastard.

Without superior talent he is average

He gets superior talent by outbidding for players.

This is no secret
