No

A guy transferring out of a program after spending 3 practices there doesn't scream "let's go get him!" to me.

This says everything you need to know about the kid. Sounds like his dad is all up in the coaches business as well. Do not want.

I said before knowing anything about him that we should kick the tires and see what's there. But after reading about the number thing, don't waste the time or effort. Let him be someone else's problem.

Holy shite because of a number

No thanks and he would not be getting #3 from Tyron Johnson either.

I was going to say that give 'em a try, LB is a spot of need and there's always special teams. And I was going to assume the number thing was either spin or something he said misconstrued into a causal factor.

However... I think this is what bothers me the most when put together with the others:

"It's just not the right fit for him," Winston Cherry said. "Once he gets his [release] papers, we'll find him a home with someone who needs him. He needs to be somewhere where he's needed real bad."

"Tennessee was a perfect fit for him," Winston Cherry said. "Texas wasn't the right place for him to go. I knew this wasn't going to last, because the simple fact is this wasn't put together right. It was just a matter of time."

Anywhere you go, especially with Charlie Strong trying to rebuild from a country club mentality, you will have to earn it. Dad sounds like he's more on the "deserve" side than "earn". And Charlie Strong isn't a n00b, I think he knows how to put together a program more than a dad named Cherry.

No Thanks

The dad is definitely the scariest part of that article. Sounds like he believes his son should get the star treatment without having to earn it. Recruiting is over, Pops. It's time for your boy to really get to work now.

Who was the last player to transfer into LSU from a D1 school and actually make a difference? I rest my case and please don't start naming players from JUCO.

From the article...

quote:

"Tennessee was a perfect fit for him," Winston Cherry said. "Texas wasn't the right place for him to go. I knew this wasn't going to last, because the simple fact is this wasn't put together right. It was just a matter of time."

Sounds like Tenn is the place he wants. This guy doesn't sound like a gamer at all. There was also this in the article,

quote:

He also noted his son was disappointed by the fact that he was assigned the No. 52 jersey for this season instead of his preferred No. 3.

Really? Do not want a guy that gets rattled by not getting the number he wants.

Bad advice is when you turn down a full ride to UT with no guarantee of another big time program coming calling.

Totally different circumstances. Mettenberger first of all made it through an entire year at Georgia, and secondly he didn't leave because of an attitude problem, he left because of legal issues that tied into the administration at Georgia, which made it impossible to mend.

If you look at the kids pics from his OV to texas he's wearing the #3. Not saying it the case but maybe they sold him on it and didn't deliver.
