That’s great. I assume it’ll be harder for talent evaluation still a lot of kids specifically in Louisiana that are getting a lot of attention. I assume 2022 recruits will get an update soon.

Expect kids like Walter Bob and Maxie Baudoin to get big boost. Any others? Maybe CB outta Texas we offered.

With covid, I imagine a lot of people including scouts haven't seen the upcoming players

This is where the scouts and team talent evaluators make their money.

I dont know how LSU hasnt offered Jordan Allen yet. They keep offering these kids from out of state over him. No offense to Marcus Scott but has he even got a P5 offer yet?

Scott was kind of a head scratcher. He can run well, but his film wasn’t better than Allen’s. I imagine the coaches want to evaluate him in person before offering.

Scott Is almost the spitting imagine of the kid from St Aug Jhamal Shelby. Who has played 1 year of football but has a handful of strong P5 offers.

I don’t understand how they say they want to re-focus on in-state but do shite like this. Allen may be more of a safety anyway, but Shelby will blow up this year and I just hope it isn’t too late

I agree Lester. Shelby has a lot of Greedy Williams in his game. I believe he’ll get his offer once he’s evaluated in person like Allen. Allen seems like a great fit at strong safety. The kid is yoked and loves to play physical.

Rankings will be all over the place this year with a lack of camps last year.

I would anticipate that the internet guys will ride coaches coattails and bump players as they get big D1 offers (like they do every year)

Corey raymond needs to get off his "type" sometimes.

It's like he only wants a corner if they are 6' or above.

Shelby is going to be a great press corner.

Most of these kids get on the services radar at camps. They don’t have the manpower to watch all of that HS tape.

To be fair, this happens every single year around this time. They turn their full focus on a class after the final NSD which was a week ago

This is probably two-fold: First, I’m pretty sure we typically like to offer in-state kids in person. So they may just have not had the right chance to roll out the red carpet for Allen yet. And second, you have to be more sure before offering an in-state kid than an out-of-state kid. Because once an in-state kid has an offer, he is liable to commit at any moment—and given the importance of building and maintaining in-state relationships, pulling an in-state kid’s offer is a massive deal. So you gotta be DAMN sure before extending that offer.

Now, all of this said, Allen should still have an offer by now lol

Why would he need to do that? Have you seen the DBs he put into the NFL since he came to LSU? I think he knows more than you. Can't coach the things he likes in CBs. Length is extremely important as is being able to run and flip their hips. CBs have to be arguably the most athletic skill position on the roster.

I could see the staff believing that they have to get in early with OOS recruits to have a good chance. If it’s like last year, or even more so in ‘22, many could understandably plan to stay close to home without the chance to visit other campuses.

And, similarly, staff could believe that they have a very good chance of reeling in local talent in the later stages, after understanding where they stand with OOS recruits.

Not suggesting it’s the right approach but can see the logic, if it is the strategy. I certainly would hope they move on someone they want ASAP, local or not. While I appreciate what O has done, bringing home a Championship, his general decision making during his time has been questionable, if not detrimental at times.

I’ve read that the coaches treat offers to in-state kids as almost irrevocable, so they have to be sure before offering. If they revoke an out of state kid that doesn’t hurt their reputation too badly.

I agree but I also believe there is a 99.99% chance Allen is in this class when we do eventually offer. Def don’t need to slow play past spring bc Bama will not.
