So Tracy wasn't on scholarship at the Assumption College? Only way he counts towards the 25.

That is what I heard. He was never on scholarship so he's an initial counter. The coaches knew it when they signed him. I was told Tuesday night he would count but didn't quite believe it. I brought it to the board on Wednesday and was "booed off the stage"

Not how it works. You sign anything promising or awarding financial aid for athletic reasons, you count. The only exceptions are for walk ons who have been in the program for more than 2 years and athletes whose careers are finished due to injury before they start. I do think they will eventually add an exception for grad transfers, but it's not there right now.

If he really wasn’t on scholarship then his counting would fit both interpretations....any transfer signing with that school for the first time, or any player signing/counting for the first time in the sport.
With as many transfers as there are each year it will be pretty easy to tell how it works when the Spring semester starts.

How the frick does a grad transfer count against the 25? I’ve never heard of that unless this is part of the new dumbass 25 rule

There is enough already. JC transfers are not listed as a special case and they count. The way the rules are written it's either all or nothing.

For what it's worth....at this time neither Rivals or 24/7 is listing him (Tracy) in the numbers for committed or signed....so they are reflecting that he (as a Grad Transfer) doesn't count

That pretty much ends the class with these 20 plus Joiner, Surtain, Goodrich, and Joseph.
No Foster or Chase. Or Beal, Watkins, or Washington. Not even a Robinson or Williams.
And you know what, it's OK. Not ideal but OK.

What do you mean by JC transfers as a special case? If they went straight to juco out of high school they would still be receiving aid for the first time in the NCAA and would count. I’m referring to transfers within FBS, from FCS to FBS, or perhaps even a juco case like Lindsey Scott.

I don’t care if he uses two schollys. Just kick the ball between the yellow posts

Just more proof of why the SEC headquarters should be moved out of Alabama.

What I mean is that the kicker has no prior relationship with LSU, so when he signed whatever promising or giving him the scholarship, it was the FIRST time he signed with LSU. Whether he was on scholarship or not is irrelevant. The first time language is to cover a case like Lindsey Scott if he were to return. If so, he wouldn't count because LSU already counted him when they signed him the first time.
If this doesn't clarify what I meant, maybe I don't understand your point. I'll be tied up for an hour or so and won't be able to respond again until then.

Not ideal but I can think of a lot worse than getting a guy capable of hitting 90% of his FGA.
Thank God Culp didn't shite the bed till after the AUgame.
