CBK knows a lot more than me, and I trust his plan.

But LSU needs to let these 5 star divas only chasing $$ go to Bama & ATM. Those guys will be leaving after one year of little playing time based on the egos this money is giving them.

We can target these guys in the portal if we have holes to fill. That way we can see if they are even worth the money.

Anyone else think we should let other programs be the Guinea pigs?

How many high profile players do you see transferring out of Georgia and Alabama each year?

This is exactly how you get left behind in college football.

Swallow your pride and play ball or we won’t be winning for a while

Those Fukin punks don’t care about playing time. Fukin checks keep clearing they stay and party.

I think to a point.. these kids still want to get to the league and todays kid isn’t waiting 2+ years to play. They want that 3 and done top 10 pick dream.

It’s a good argument that this is how we get left behind but NIL hasn’t been out long. I think we will start seeing marquee players go into the portal after 1 year. There is already precedent for this.

They are going to put restrictions on NIL in the future. The smart move would be to abuse it the first few years when there are no restrictions or caps.

I think LSU fans are upset because A&M played it the smart way

So you think we should just let the other top teams sign all the 5-stars, figure out which are the best, keep them, then cull the ones that didn’t pan out and push them to us?

That’s your plan?

You guys are lying to yourself if y’all don’t think LSU will be doing the same exact thing.

The question isn't whether we'll try to do it - it's whether or not we'll be able to do it as well as Georgia, Alabama, and A&M.

ANY of you, whether for or against NIL, who are basing what you are saying about LSU recruiting going forward on what is happening right now are pissing in the wind. It’s a complete waste of time.

Transition year recruiting is a completely different animal. It’s about holding onto what you can and signing the guys who connect with what you are selling in a short period of time. That’s particularly difficult now because of ESD.

Another thing many of you seem to be missing is that relationships STILL MATTER. The NIL money only works when you have that first. We likely lost any shot at Perkins and Harris because of their position coaches leaving/being replaced. Money alone doesn’t fix that. Again, you guys are basing what you think the future will be on a coaching transition class. Whether it’s good or bad, next year and going forward won’t look anything like this.

There is only one thing I look at as a positive sign that MIGHT translate to the future. It’s that Boutte evidently did get an NIL deal and it sounds like he’s changed his tune to being “locked in” since then. If holding on to the top players we have is the priority, then applying NIL dollars there is the best way to use them today.

I think it comes down to winning. LSU should have no issue doing it as well as Georgia or Bama, but I would be condescending if I said I think A&M could get hairy if the ROI continues to be 4-5 losses a year and don’t acknowledge the same thing for LSU.

Most won’t play as freshman anyways at Bama riding the pine will hurt their egos. Play the game right and get players who want to be here and not because of a check. If they watched todays games even non-collegiate footballers at LSU made headlines. LSU is the better choice by a mile for the long term run of things. True Devonta won the Heisman in a Covid season. Chase will win the rookie of the year. Jefferson is an All-Pro. And one of the best young QB’s in the league comes from LSU. And Odell is looking like old Odell with the Rams. None of those players were 5-Stars. Stars don’t matter when your playing for love of the game and not a check.

Who is they and tell me how? It's now the law of the land.

Before you suggest a NFL type salary cap that is for players salaries, even NFL can monetize their NIL for all they are worth.

Better hope something changes. LSU doesn’t have boosters like A&M and Texas.
