The general mantra is that we're supposed to reap the rewards of a national title with the following year's recruiting class.
And while our class is fine, it's not notably better than any other class coming off a non-championship year. We're currently sitting at 5th, with Georgia hot on our tail. Guess who's so far ahead of everyone with the #1 class currently? Bama.
Missing out on top in-state guys like Thomas Jr and Sage Ryan could conceivably result in LSU not landing a top 5 class in the year following a national championship.
Not to mention the other huge advantage we have this year - COVID. The quarantines and recruiting restrictions means these kids aren't taking trips to other schools. And yet we're still, somehow, about to lose the top 2 kids in the state?
