I’m not mad at coach, more power to him but there is a ripple effect to his actions

Totally agree but how did we get all of these other guys after the news came out about O and Kelly getting a divorce?

My head hurts with this one. I’m not trying to be dramatic, this will be the biggest recruiting frick up in 20 years.

I just don't see it. He's a Safety not a QB

Question about Sage.

Was he on campus when Nussmeier and others helped set up that big recruiting weekend several weeks ago? I don't remember if he did but thought he did. I knew Brian Thomas didn't go.

If he didn't, this set of news shouldn't have been that surprising then.

What long term LSU lean QB from in state did LSU whiff on in the last 20 years? I understand QB is a more important position but I’m not recalling a comparative situation.

Where was Sage ever a lean to LSU? All I ever saw was some CB's by the LSU 247 guys and his relationship to Faulk. Everyone assumed oh shite he's from Laffy he's going to be a Tiger. That's just not the case anymore.

Must have been assumed. Obviously incorrectly. Just a killer.

I think we all did and that's the problem . It seems like the most logical thing right? I mean dude is related to someone on the fricking staff and an in-state kid. I'm just hoping O was able to get all this smoke to Bama and he still end up at LSU.

The so called "insiders" and "experts" who charge people money assume a lot of shite too, but people want to believe otherwise.

The theory was that LSU was just a step behind Bama in recruiting and that we would catch up once we beat them on the field.

If the theory was “beat Bama once in 8 years, and they stop getting 5-stars our of Louisiana,” I would say the theory was a bit naive. Sure - success breeds success, rich get richer, etc. - but how did Saban build that dynasty in the first place?

The four years before Saban went to Bama, their recruiting classes were ranked #21, #16, #13 and #12. Saban’s first four classes were ranked #3, #3, #4, and #1. Followed by Saban’s well known streak of #1 classes.

Yeah, he’s a good defensive coach. But he built a dynasty by getting the best players. He’s the best recruiter in the game. Whether that’s his personal recruiting skills, his overall philosophy, commitment to facilities, the brinks truck, whatever... it doesn’t matter. What matters is that he’s the best recruiter in the game, and it’s naive to think that he would stop having success in Louisiana just because we beat them for the first time since 2011.

The reality is that we are going to be fighting tooth and nail with Bama for the top Louisiana guys until the Bama dynasty falls off - whether because we consistently beat them on the field, or because Saban retires.

This proves your point.

I don’t have to worry about them having a bad season or having a slump. They’re always good. I would like to be a part of program like that and hopefully help them win if I decide to go there. It would be amazing to play for one of the best coaches in college football right now."

Well there you have it. He pretty much said without saying he isn’t coming here because of Pelini and the inconsistent defense.

Vol are we really going to lost the top safety in the state who is a cousin of LSU royalty to the tide? I honestly never thought we had to worry about Sage and now they have our Kaine Williams too at a position that is terrible for us and the 3 star guys they have on board are nice players I’m sure but come the frick on. Is there anything that can be done at this point or is his mind made up?

Friend of mine talked to Ryan last night and he said his mind is made up which is why he has a date set.

well, RIP DBU status, can't pull in the talent so we're about to continue seeing some of the worst performances by any LSU defense ever... strap on in because it's about to get rough

Serious question:

How come Ole Miss and State do as good or better of a job at keeping top Mississippi kids instate — despite having no shot at having winning programs — than LSU can do in Louisiana?

The top players in Mississippi arent as good as the top players in Louisiana so you rarely see Alabama trying to recruit them like they constantly do for the top Louisiana players. Also, Nick Saban coached at LSU for 5 years and won a national championship here. He has ties to Louisiana high schools and coaches that were built while he was coaching at LSU. Saban is the best college football recruiter that there has ever been. It sucks but it's the way it is.
