They must be tossing up a coin because there are no camps. Maybe watching miles of film must have helped downgrade certain players who are being recruited by their less than desirable teams. Nothing but a beauty pageant.

Damn, Coach O must not have seen this. Not sure why he is settling for the scrubs. ;)

Seriously, thanks for posting. Always interesting to see the fluidity of the rankings.

We had 2, 5 stars last week. Now we have none. Ohio State had 2 last week, now they have 4.

Two reasons for this:
1. Ohio gets tons of talent, just like LSU.
2. The recruiting services’ top priority is selling advertisement, not ranking recruits. Most of the talent is in the south, but if they faithfully reported that they’d lose northern eyeballs. That’s why a guy like Spenser Ware was a five star. He was a very good running back, but clearly lacked the speed to be a five star. Had he been from Louisiana he would have been a four star, but since he was from Ohio...

I calculated the average excluding Todd (since they have not posted a rating). It was 0.92974545.
Since the rating is nil, a proper average ignores that value. Once they put up the rating, and it will be low since all kickers are rated as 2 stars, it will drop our average rating significantly.

Mike58: im getting 92.84 w/o Todd. Check your calculations again... and look at Ohio St and their total is 1623.59 ÷ 17= 95.50 without their punter, which is what they are using. Why are they using Todd for us, and not OSU? They use their Composite score to calculate 95.50 without the punter... our Composite w/o Todd = 92.84. Something's off...

If you use their Top247 #'s, and not Composite, and include Todd's 81, it = 91.00 which is close to the 90.93, but I still don't think that's where they got the 90.93...

how do they do that? It appears that he has no ranking on their site. Do they count him at zero in the numerator and add one to the demoninator?

No it's not 0. That would bring it way, way down. That was my question. OSU's rating of 95.50 is not counting their punter, who is not rated. You could use their TOP247 #'s for LSU(which has Todd as an 81.) and get close to the 90.93, but I don't think that's what they're doing.. I think I've seen this before from 247, where the numbers drop, and then an adjustment is made back up a few days later. Remains to be seen...

Only 7 of the 17 are from Ohio but it looks like a solid year for Ohio talent. Ohio State has been crushing Texas in hte past few years. They seem to be able to go into Texas and get who they want for the most part. This cycle they seem to have the ability to pull the 5*'s from the state of Washington as well. They've also recruited Georgia well for some time now. If Kirby Smart could ever figure out how to simply build a fence around Georgia he'd be formidable despite his game day coaching.

Urban Meyer brought national recruiting to Ohio State and it hasn't stopped with Day. Hartline is proving to be an elite recruiter at the receiver position and having Kerry Coombs and Larry Johnson, Sr. on the staff recruiting doesn't hurt. They bring a lot of credibility.

We always say that when a player commits to LSU, they more than likely will drop in the rankings, and an update 2 months into a pandemic proves just that.

and like 22-23 in the top 250! It’s nuts. They’ve got commit or CB from the #2, #3, and #4 WDE, several top 5 at almost all positions including many #1s and #2s AND I’ve got to listen to rumors of them grabbing Raesjon??? I just can’t process.

Yup, and it's not close to being over yet either.. 7-8 of their final recruiting leans are JT Tuimoloau 5* (# 1 DT, Emeka Egbuka 5*, (#1 WR), Both from Washington, JC latham 5*, who we are recruiting, Tywone Malone 97.6 247 composite DT. There are 3 others at around 95 or 96 composite. Totally incredible. They will probably end up with the highest recruiting class in history with possibly 8 5*'s. Don't think they get Raesjon though.

I would suppose the coaches tell the commits to expect a drop when they commit. No sour grapes here, facts are facts. Agree with previous posts about subscriptions driving the bus. Follow the money.

no they weren’t, an unranked player doesn’t count towards it. Now that he’s ranked, it hurts our average but not our total. Only 2 of our players lost a point on their overall grade

Realized they're rating Peyton Todd with a Composite of 70.0 to make our average 90.93!!! In the last few years, NO punter has ever been rated as low as 70. And they're not rating Ohio State's punter, therefore keeping they're avg. real high... lol.

"If Kirby Smart could ever figure out how to simply build a fence around Georgia he'd be formidable despite his game day coaching."

Kirby is getting #1 ranked classes. He is in a talent-rich state and gets plenty in and out of state. LSU now recruits well in GA because he can't take it all.

UGA was tight with $$$$$$$$, didn't spend on assts or facilites until very recently. Now has top recruiting budget and is paying coaches.

UGA gonna be up there for awhile.

That was an error by 247Sports. The average rating for the current commits in the 2021 class is 92.83.

No thats not true.... We had 1 who has now been downgrades to high 4 (Davis). OSU have had 3 -5's for a long time Sawyer, Henderson, McCord) and 1 that was recently upgraded to 5* (Adeleye).

Also, punters are not included in all inclusive 247 composites rating... it is listed as N/A.
