However, I ask the question when a guy like Gilbert or Ricks even starts hinting at the portal, or wants to declare himself "out" without a medical reason from the medical staff, much less enters the portal- why in the hell do we keep them on scholarship and stipend?

We do everything to keep the eligible in the hopes they come back. In the end we are keeping them eligible for the other team. In the case of Gilber, Ricks, and very likely Minimum Johnson we are keeping them eligible for an in-conference opponent.

We should jerk any and all financial support, including stipend. Housing. Access to the training table. Tutors. Scooters. Tablets. Special registration. All training facilities.

We should immediately test for recreational drugs. PEDs according to NCAA rules. And specifically look for masking or swapping. Make them go the Fulton route... at their new school.

Would you buy your wife a new car, change the keys to the house and give her the only copies, make her a signatory on all bank accounts, go ahead and get her a lawyer on retainer, and ask her to take the kids because she sent you a picture with her in bed taking it in the arse from her boyfiend captioned "btw, I'm leaving you". Hell no. Why are we supportive of these guys? Because we want them to come back? frick that.

Great point. We have to quit stargazing. The players that you want are the ones that are going to play. I’d rather a 3 star that you can count on than a 5 star that constantly needs to be stroked into staying with you. Same concept as marriage material.

We have wound up with way too many of these losers which is hopefully the culture change actually happening. If you aren’t sold on LSU, go somewhere else. We have won it all with 3 different coaches in 20 years. Bama is a phenomenal program, but if anyone can compete with them, it’s us. frick anyone that would consider going to them after playing for us. The players that go there should feel the same way about us. It’s on us to be competitive enough to make it that way. The good news? I think we did our best to find that guy to take us there. It’s a long play.

Factomundo! We were better when he got out of the way and quit. He’s getting terrible advice. DBU would have masked his 4.6 40 and got him drafted in the 1st round. The scouts will see that he was stupid enough to walk away from that and view him as an idiot. I’m calling it now he can win the Thorpe award next year there’s no way he goes higher than a late second. Character is fully in question.
