Ive told yall all along that he was going to St. Johns, He told a good friends of mine it was the draw of playing in Madison Square Garden that got him.

It was a joke. Many fans used the "one and done" comment to bash the last coach.
LSU has as much to offer in basketball as any other school in the conference except Kentucky and Florida. Fans are excusing TJ by putting LSU basketball at the same level as LSU football in the days of Curly. We weren't expected to compete with Miami and Florida State for football recruits.
Then the right hire was made, we started to compete, and haven't looked back.
Hopefully Trent will get us back on track this season.

I may be completely off base on this, as I know very little about all this, but I think that Frank Wilson and Butch Pierre have proven that ties to the state or local players can be very strong in recruiting. Should TJ have someone like that on his staff?

Yep, he was never appealing to the Lopez twins
What's funny is that he landed them after coming off missing the NCAA Tournament.
And wait, he wasn't appealing to JOB as well.

We have had Pierre and still didn't land the following:
Augustin
Carter
Dunn
Monroe
T. Henry
Washington
The bigger issue here is the fact that we have not been landing the top NOLA area players for a long time now (looks like decades it seems). From Chris Duhon to Augustin to Carter to Monroe to now Gathers. There have been other earlier NOLA area players that I'm pretty sure that got away as well. This has been an issue that Dale Brown couldn't stop, John Brady couldn't stop and now Trent Johnson may seem to have trouble stopping.

We need Shaq to come and coach. Guarantee he would keep LA talent in state. If not Shaq, let's bury the hatchet and get Johnny Jones in.

I think LSU dropped the ball letting Butch Pierre leave...my son went to the John Brady bb camp years ago, I got to talk to him and was very impressed ....just a really good guy ,who knew BB and could recruit well

This just about sums it up. For some reason a few of these guys just don't want to come to LSU. It pretty much seems that it is always the best players in the state unfortunately.

Considering our main competition at the end was Ole Miss and noted lazy recruiter Gary Williams, who was also ready to retire JOB wasn't the toughest get in the world.
