Really impressed with Michigan State on floor. Most of their gymnasts are doing only a two floor pass routine. However, the routines were very well executed. I say we ditch some of the three floor pass routines as well and save the girls’ bodies. I know Dunne does a two pass routine, but I’d be in favor of Aleah, Kiya, and Haleigh also doing only two passes. They’ve all had recent injuries. I think it’s time to sorta take some of the load off. Probably a good time to play to the code.

Agree about the make the most use of the code. It’s a long season and I was so bummed seeing Lynzee Brown of Denver go down with a potentially career ending injury. I’m not so worried about rankings considering we have only two meets counting. Just my take on the team vault will be a strength once the landings improve. I love Sarah Edwards but she can’t stick that vault. I would replace her with Finnegan. Watching Michigan yesterday they commented that Plocki uses the top 6 no matter class scholarship or walk on. Bars dismounts for Dunne and Aloyna need to be changed. I could see Aleah or Alexis taking Olivia’s spot. Beam needs the most consistency. My ideal lineup is Desiderio, Dean, Finnegan, Bryant and Kiya. Obviously Campbell is injured or lacks consistency. I don’t trust Durante or Aloyna. Take the leap pass out of Campbell’s routine. Floor usually a strength but injuries has the lineups all over the place. Christina needs a two pass routine. Then Aloyna, KJ, Aleah, Haleigh and Kiya for max scoring.

See I think Kai in on floor along with Kiya, Haleigh, Aleah, KJ, and either Livvy or Alyona maxes out the potential on floor. Alyona tends to be more out of control at times on her first and last floor passes. I think Livvy has the potential to score higher than Alyona. Sarah, Sierra, and Christina are fine but I think they won’t score the highest in the postseason. Each tend to have form/conditioning issues on floor.

I was not impressed with Kai at the intrasquad and thought her endurance was nowhere near where it should be.

First off, it’s Alyona, not Aloyna. Second thing: who would your 6th person in our lineup be for beam? You only listed 5. And I hope that’s not the order you would use. I think Finnegan should anchor. No question about it. She has the best lines of anyone on the team. And Dean has proved herself over the years as someone who deserves to be on the back half of the lineup in my opinion due to her overall consistency. As for Campbell, she’s always been the only one (other than Sarah Finnegan) I’ve thought who should do the switch half leap series. I think the main issue with her routine construction and her back is more about her mount than anything else. It takes too much energy out of here to where she can’t execute the rest of the routine the way she needs to.

As for floor, please keep in mind that Kai is coming off an achilles tear and hasn’t competed floor in 2 years, since her senior year of high school. She boasts a JO National Championship of her own so I think I would personally put her on floor over Alyona in our lineup by the end of the season. Her form is cleaner across the board: she just needs the reps. But I agree with y’all about having KJ, Kiya, Aleah, and Haleigh in as well. They’re must haves. The 6th spot for me is a toss up between Livvy and Sierra. Livvy overall showed that she can be cleaner on floor with her two pass routine this past weekend but ultimately Sierra does have the experience, and when she’s on, she’s ON

I don't get this. Alyona should be in on floor, that's actually probably one of her better events. Edwards is probably one of the weaker floor routines of the current ones. Alyona is a bit inconsistent on beam though.

Floor (No order): Alyona, Kai, Aleah, KJ, Kiya and Bryant is probably the best lineup from a potential standpoint. Ballard is a bit hit or miss with the DLO, but if she is maybe LSU should downgrade and focus on being clean? I am watching teams do the bare minimum hitting 9.9's in their floor routines. Sometimes less is more. I enjoy her routine a lot. Sometimes it’s not a bad idea to have a clean simple routine.

I’m with you tigerbait in regards to Alyona. It’s just my opinions and observations about the team. I just was stating my top ladies on each event no particular order. Until Kai proves herself and gets the chance to compete im sticking with Alyona on floor. I actually like Desiderio’s floor this year compared to past. It’s always landings and endurance for her. I’m sorry downgrading to double pikes won’t cut it against a Michigan team sorry. As for beam, it doesn’t matter where Finnegan is placed she’s gonna score high. I love Deans consistency but she doesn’t have the best form and come post season she gets hit with deductions more than the others. She’s in beam because she’s proven to be consistent. In no order the back half should be Finnegan, Bryant and Kiya. I love all the girls and support LSU and it’s not to pick on anyone particular but the parity in college is at an all time level. It’s not just the top 5 or 6 anymore. Florida, Michigan, Utah and Oklahoma are at the top. Then u have a hot Minnesota and Denver teams plus Cal. I compare all the teams and we have the talent like everyone says, but the coaches have to put the ladies in the best position to contend. Form consistency skill selection are important factors

Look who is going to the Nastia Liukin Cup!

Alamo Classic
Winner (senior division): Bryce Wilson

Winner (junior division): Presley Duke

LSU signee Bryce Wilson, who scored a 10.0 last week at a NLC qualifier but struggled on the other events, notched her qualification this week with a solid performance on all four apparatuses. Her two best scores came on vault and bars. On vault, she can perform both a stunning Yurchenko full and a strong Yurchenko double, which won her the L10 national title last year. On bars, the amplitude on all of her skills is second to no one in the country.

Presley Duke, in the class of 2026, notched the junior qualification with a huge score only a half-tenth behind Wilson. She posted career highs on vault, bars, beam and in the all-around. Her highest score came on vault, where she performed a Yurchenko full as straight as a pencil. Her most impressive routine, though, was on beam, which almost had an elite feel. She dismounted with two back handsprings to double tuck.

Bryce Wilson

Scores: VT: 9.800 | UB: 9.850 | BB: 9.575 | FX: 9.625 | AA: 38.850

Club: Pearland Elite
College: LSU
High School Graduation Year: 2022
CGN Rating: ????????
Notable Results: 2021 Texas state, Region 3 and L10 national champion on vault
Previous NLC Appearances: 2021 (senior, 18th)

The pre-meet introductions are incredible. If you bleed purple and gold its absolutely chilling. The best was a couple of years ago when the team came roaring onto the floor and were introduced as the back to back to back champions of the Southeastern Conference and 12,000 to 13,000 roaring fans welcomed them. The song that plays as they are introduced is mesmerizing and the pyrotechnics as each gymnast climbs onto the podium creates an intimidating backdrop for the opponent, especially out of conference teams who have not been in that environment. I remember even Alabama fell apart the night of the first sellout in 2018. If this team gets healthy those days of dominance will return.

Speaking of dominance - any thoughts about how things will go on Saturday? We need to be decidedly better - probably close to a full point better than we were last week. I am hoping that the team is now into the rhythm and can show some improvement instead of essentially having to restart the season.

I think we absolutely have to be lights out on vault
And we need to put up at least one more 10.0 - maybe time to let KJ do the double! Then we need to
Find the landings on bars. Beam - well I never really know, but I think Durante abs Campbell should not be in the lineup. Abs finally, floor desperately needs kiya and haleigh and hopefully maybe some
Of the others can settle in. With home floor we should not be barely hitting 49 (if florida can get tens with clearly uncontrolled passes - we need to
Do better than we are to have half A chance at the same type of scoring - I don’t agree with over scoring, but if all the big names are getting it, we need to get it as well to compete. And in order to
get it we can’t be gassed on floor)

The coaches have kept the team under wraps to let injuries heal and allow some newcomers to gain experience. On Saturday they will unleash the beast. LSU is the better team and the Suni effect can only go so far. Tigers knock on the door of 198 , maybe even exceed it and win by .75.

I like this as a prediction! And hope it comes true! The realist in me though knows that even just kiya/haleigh can’t give us the boost we need - bigger scores will need to come from lower down the lineup as well.

I wish I had your optimism! I’m just not feeling it yet. Hope I’m proven wrong!

But I will be there with bells and whistles cheering them on!

Florida’s resting a lot of people tonight, not going for a huge road score. But I suppose Mizzou is not usually the best place to get a big road score anyway

Interesting. I thought in gymnastics every single meet mattered because of your score? Not actually winning the match?
