Why am I getting the feeling that Arenas will be the odd woman out next year? This is considering the returning seniors and the freshmen. I hope I’m wrong but I just have that feeling, especially seeing she only did vault consistently this year.

Arenas's best events on vault and bars.

I think for anyone to break into the lineup next year on vault, they will need a 10.0 vault. Its going to be a war for those last couple spots because Ryan will certainly be a factor as well as the incoming freshmen. NCAA's showed us how harsh they were on the full so LSU needs to truly be at five 10.0 vaults or all six for that matter.

I honestly think Arenas could help us on bars, its her most natural event and her best event going back to JO/Elite. The bars lineup this year wasn't bad but not enough 9.9+ scorers to take that event to the next level. You had many routines that were pretty strong but ended up in the 9.8's due to the dismount (form or inconsistent landings)

Who are you most excited about coming back? For me, I think its Christina, I got so happy when I knew she was staying. Her DLO on floor gives me life.

Again, I hope they have a better season than last year and I am hopeful they are used sparingly only on events where they can really contribute. Sami on bars, Sarah on vault (and maybe backup on floor - I don't love her front double twist), Christina (possibly beam only), Dean (definitely on beam), and Reagan only if she is healthier than this year.

Hearing there has been contact with Olivia Greaves. But everyone else is going after her as well (Michigan, OU, Arkansas, Auburn, Oregon St are the teams I’ve heard)

She would be a great addition!

For me, it’s Sarah Edwards! She has been an absolute joy to watch over these 4 years. And I love how she worked her way into 2 lineups and earned a scholarship. Such an inspiration. And of course, who doesn’t love her run?!?

I do love Christina too though. I was happy to see her do so well on floor during post season after she had struggled so much at the beginning. I’m glad she was able to stay healthy.

I’m also glad Sami will have a second chance to erase that shocking fall on bars and redeem herself.

From looking at IG, it looks like Ark will be the likely landing spot if Leah Smith can get out of her NLI.

Also, I’m blown away by the amount of talent going to “lower tiered” schools. I hate to put it that way, but I’m sure y’all get what I mean. The parity is going to get deeper and deeper. Watch out for Mizzou now. The SEC will be a blood bath. All schools are getting deeper, and then there is UGA...

2022 Roster is officially up

LINK

Gonna be brutal next year with the competition in spots, not everyone will get to compete and some might even lose their spot in a lineup.

I can’t say the same. I held my breath on every tumbling pass. Too inconsistent, although she did improve late in the season. Unfortunately, her beam went the other direction.

I am equally happy about Sami (bars), Sarah (vault), and Bridget (beam).

I’m undecided on Reagan. I hope she can stay healthy and make a lineup. Time will tell.

Question, if LSU has six 10.0 vaults next year, how would y’all feel if Edwards led off?

I propose that mostly because she rarely sticks that vault in general but it’s a very nice and big vault. Her normal vault with step forward is like a 9.875-9.90 vault in general. That honestly would give us a strong lead off score to set up the rest of the rotation.

You know, I actually think that’s a great idea. And now that you say that, it could be that we maybe should use her lead off on floor if it comes to that. I didn’t think she should ever be as far down the lineup as she was this year, but she could probably do a (more) consistent 9.85 than say dean (certainly) or desiderio (forget who else led us off this year)

I just watched a little highlight video of the returning seniors, and I really do hope Reagan has a good year. She was beautiful on floor until she had the injury bug. I had forgotten how good she was. Did she compete on floor at all this year?

I hope Campbell comes back healthy because her beam when she is on is gorgeous and we need routines like that. I don’t think she sees floor again considering what we have now and coming in. I don’t know what they could do but they need trial a new dismount for her beam set. That double twist is a killer half the time.

That's actually a great idea, putting Sarah up first on vault. She's extremely reliable. Though she never sticks, she still always has a good vault. Kind of the same reason why I think Dean would be a great lead off on beam.

And then move Arenas down in the lineup. Hoping she will compete a DTY next season. Her vault improved well during the season and she had a really good DTY as an elite.

I think she only competed beam last year. Hopefully giving her more time to rest next season and not having her compete every week will keep her healthy for post season.

Campbell has been training floor and beam so I wonder if focusing solely on beam would benefit her and the team next year. Not that I don’t enjoy her floor but LSU has a ridiculous amount of depth on floor. We don’t have what I consider a lot of natural beam workers and she is one of those. If she can keep her body fresh focusing on that, I think she would have a much better year next season.

Maybe I’m being selfish asking her to train one event only but I’m sincerely thinking about her body and how she can help our team the most. I think that would be the best option if I was the coach

I do worry, like some of you, that the returning seniors will all be in several lineups, simply because they are returning seniors. I hope I’m wrong. The two that should be locks are Sami on bars and Sarah on vault. The other spots should have to be earned, and let’s hope we don’t have to endure another year of wondering why Arenas hasn’t made a bars lineup and why we haven’t seen Dunne on beam.

The biggest plus to having the seniors back is leadership. Especially given that we have only one rising senior, who has not made a lineup in over a year.

I like the idea of her leading off on vault. I also would prefer Sami moving back to the lead off on bars and moving Kiya down. I think too often times Kiya’s bars was the best on any given night but she gets penalized due to the order.

In my opinion, Sami should stay in the anchor position as she has proven herself to be solid and reliable time and time again and has earned that anchor spot. However, I think Jay should lead off with Kai on bars next year, followed by Elena, Dunne (full pirouette to double tuck dismount), Bryant (with the double front half out dismount) Kiya then Sami. I think this’ll give us our max bars score potential. Kai, like Kiya is a very clean solid reliable bar worker who gets all of her difficulty from an easier routine which is what the entire lineup should do. Putting Kai first still gives us the big lead off score we need to get the lineup going while allowing both her and Kiya to be rewarded for their polish on the event
