Ahh. This is what I get for being super busy and disconnected from the gymternet all day. Thanks!

Congrats to Aleah for making national team!

LSU has two commits on the senior US national team
Ella Kate Parker will be a future one as well. Hopefully we add Amari Drayton this fall for 2023.

Scores from camp are available- Aleah did very well on vault and beam and came in 6th of those doing all around. Which vault is it that starts from a 5.2?

Anyone know why Konnor didn’t make national team because she didn’t show all events yet mykayla only showed one and she did?
P.s. Look at Emma Malabuyo’s scores... :(

Not sure, unless she upgraded her 2nd vault. The DTY is 5.4
The bar scores were interesting to me. That stood out. Either everyone was really sloppy or the judging was crazy strict.

I feel awful for her. Wonderful girl and talent but she has been beaten down so badly with injuries. I think going to UCLA would be the right move for next season. Enjoy the remaining years happy and just doing a sport you enjoy

Really wish she would leave TD and go to strong L10 gym then move to UCLA asap. She is not making the Olympic team. The worry is she won't even be able to have a college career... good on Barros for making the smart move.

I'm really excited for the meet this coming week
LSU really is set up great rotation wise. Typically the first event is scored the tightest and LSU is starting on their weakest event (IMO). We don't end on balance beam either. Finish the last half of the meet with our two best events (vault and floor).

Wouldn’t it be helpful, though, to not start on our weakest event with tight scoring - potentially making a deficit insurmountable? I do generally agree, though, that if you can’t start on vault, it’s best to start on bars to avoid staring or ending on beam. Just wondering if anyone thinks tighter scoring on our bar rotation could take us out of it?

Potentially yes. My thinking is they don't want to throw out BIG scores opening rotation off the bat and backing themselves into a hole with a lot of competition to go.
You don't want your best event (where you can potentially score the most) to be judged tightly. That would require you to have to go above and beyond on some of the other events that you aren't as good on in my opinion. Vault has the highest scoring potential for LSU. If LSU was on vault first, my concern would be they would hold onto those high scores early on. Traditionally this has been the case over the years.
I don't like to start on beam or end on it either. That event generally can make or break the meet for a team. I like our overall rotation. Bars and beam has to bring their A game and try to keep to keep it close. If they can do that, what we have on floor and vault gives us a chance in the end as those events are the big scorers.
How we start on bars will be critical though. If we nail that, it sets up a lot of momentum moving forward. If we struggle significantly, that could also come back to bite us as well.
Anyways, maybe it won't matter at all and they judge routines properly. I do like ending on our best event last.

One thing I will add to this is that our vault team as a whole has been more consistent with nailing landings than Florida’s, who starts on that event. If we, on bars, can out stick Florida on vault in the first rotation, that takes the pressure off the beam team a little bit to just hit their normal routines while Florida heads to bars. Then we have momentum built up in a positive direction for floor and vault to potential overtake Florida. I think that if we were starting on vault and they were starting on bars, we’d be at too much of a deficit after the second rotation and have to hope that Florida struggles on floor while we’re on beam (like they did in 2018 and 2019) to surpass them then try to hold them off in the final rotation.

I am excited for our vault lineup - if we hit the landings the potential is sky high. Anyone know if we are still using Sami or if they are maybe going to try it with Kam - seems at some point you just have to go for broke and, well, that time is essentially now.

My hope is that we lead off with Arenas, then go Kamryn, Shchennikova, Edwards, Johnson, Bryant but I have a feeling Jay will keep the same lineups he's had the last two meets and rest Ryan until regionals at the earliest. I feel like she needs more hard landings in competition if we plan to use her at all before nationals both for the confidence/experience and because her legs seem to be fresher. She’s a better vaulter than Durante and has the 10.0 SV advantage.
Any guesses where we’ll end up for regionals and how much the rankings will change between now and then? I’m guessing it’ll either be WVU or Utah but who knows at this point

I think it depends how practice goes this week and how podium training goes. She was vaulting extremely well last week I heard in practice.
IMO, I think we really messed up not giving Kam at least one more opportunity to perform that vault in front of judges (when it counts). Should have probably given her one more shot while at home last weekend just to see if she really is ready to hit when it counts. We should have done that to truly give her that experience of pressure, as well as giving her confidence that she can hit when it matters. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Build towards next season with that vault. Just didn't like that we didn't give it a shot.

Saw this one online for the projections. Getting bumped to 4 actually makes this regional more tolerable.
Just don't count a fall then I feel like we definitely should advance with ease IMO.

Is there anyway for us to stay 4, Utah to pass Cal and Kentucky to pass UCLA next weekend so we end up in Salt Lake City rather than West Virginia?

Am I taking crazy pills, because there is no world where I see Cal being better than Utah.

In the head-to-head match-up, Utah came out on top, however, Cal has been improving steadily each week. Also, compared to Utah, Cal has been more consistent week after week on vault and bars, where Utah has struggled to find their landings. Utah has the advantage on beam and floor but not by much if you look at the average scores and high score. The vault and bars vs beam and floor deficits between the two teams put Cal slightly ahead of Utah, especially when it comes down to post-season and being in a pressure situation.

Sorry, been busy, but Aleah has shown an Omelianchik on social media which is a round off 1/2 on and a pike off. I think Bailey competed that same vault at LSU for reference. Anyway, that's a 5.2 SV, so most likely did that vault. Potentially vault for her next year as a Tiger???
