I would think with Campbell's already bad ankle and plenty of other routines to choose from, she should be left out. We need her way more on BB than on floor.

Last call for Sim Gym...we are hoping to draft this weekend. Contact me at gmail with this user name if interested!

Anyone know why Sarah is ending with a RO double back? Opened 101 with the front double full instead of that beautiful double layout she had last year. Normally, I would think no biggie, playing it conservative, but she's got two front passes and one pass where they took the back handspring out. Gosh knows she's never close to OOB, so wondering if there isn't an underlining injury they're protecting by going with front tumbling and removing the extra back handspring?

Looks like the gymternet found a new target. Bailie Key...

They truly are a miserable bunch.

From what I’ve seen and read, the majority of people who are hating on her are gymternet fans from the US. If you look carefully at the argument for people who are pro gun control, what they are advocating for is for guns to be harder to obtain so that they will only be used in controlled environments, such as for hunting, at shooting ranges or the olympics, since shooting is an Olympic sport. What a lot of the gymternet seems to miss is that pro gun control advocates are NOT saying that guns should be banned completely since that is nearly impossible to do at this point. They just want more regulation to lower the number of shootings that happen. The photo Bailie posted is her at a gun range and I see absolutely no problem with that as it is a controlled regulated environment. I wish people weren’t so quick to dismiss her and her successful gymnastics career over one photo, because by that logic, almost every single gymnast in the United States should also be dismissed or “cancelled” for at least one thing/mistake/post etc. that someone disagrees with

People can be so cruel! Let the girl live. I will always be a fan of Bailie Key. Loved her as an elite. Still mad over the fact that she didn’t make the 2015 World Championship team. I had high hopes for her at Bama. The girl has been through so much. People really need to grow up and mind their own business.

I see Courtney Goodrich has been removed from the roster now? Has she opted out of this season or has she medically retired?

She only threw the double layout once in competition...at florida...her last meet.

She also did it at Georgia and at home vs Auburn if I am not mistaken.
Either way her front double full is an E skill. I just want her 2nd pass to be consistent, she got injured on that pass and she struggled with timing of it verses GA and Auburn which derailed her floor scores.
Overall I thought our E passes at 101 looked great. Hopefully this continues as we head into next week.

Does anyone know how Caitlin Smith is progressing on bars? She had a very usable bar routine in JO. Just wondering if maybe she could provide some depth on that event.

Unfortunately don't think its ever gonna happen. I think she is too far behind between all the injuries she has sustained and battled over the years. It won't be any easier next year when we bring in Aleah, Tori and Kaytlyn. Caitlin is a great teammate though. The girls love her. It will be interesting to see if she continues to train next year or if she steps back into a student manger/coach role.
6 days left! So what are y'all looking forward to the most opening meet on Friday? What concerns you the most?

Oh ok. Thanks for commenting. Makes since. She has had a lot of injuries....which worries me about Kaytlyn Johnson too.
But I am most looking forward to seeing all the freshman compete, especially Haleigh. I also want to see if Jay makes good on his promise of controlling his facial expressions. I also want to see who emerges as the true leader of the team. Leadership was something they lacked last season.

I look forward and am most concerned to how the freshmen handle opening meet. First time is always a unknown but I think they will do fine. They got some of the nerves out at 101 which was big.
On vault, I don't expect a lot of perfect landings but I hope that the vaults are big and clean in the air. I think we will open the first meet with 4 10.0 vaults and then try to develop the other vaults. I think Alyona will be big for us on vault this year along with adding Haleigh.
On bars at 101, overall I was very pleased with handstands and our positions. My biggest concern is dismounts overall. The key to being a consistent 9.9+ scorer is you need to stick dismounts. Alyona still makes me hold by breath with her DLO. I hope Bryant does her 2nd dismount with the half twist. I like our freshmen on bars a lot. If Sami can be more consistent with her dismount, her scores will jump here.
I think beam is going to be wildly competitive this year. I think Alyona and Olivia Dunne are making major statements to get into this lineup. Biggest challenge is for Alyona to be consistent on this event and not come off the beam. I was a bit surprised not to see Bryant at 101 because her form overall is good here. Dunne's form is really good, thats gonna be in the lineup at some point.
Floor I think there is a lot of options to choose from, again I think this could change by the week depending on how practices and meets go. Bryant and Johnson will be a killer end of lineup routines. I feel again, Alyona has really stepped up and has a very nice routine. Should be fun to watch.
Seniors I hope come out strong and lead by example. This team is depending on a lot of youngsters for big routines so I hope they can help with that.

As much as I absolutely LOVE LSU as a university as whole and all their sports teams, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the gymnastics team and these girls will forever and always hold a special place in my heart. Gym season is the best and my favorite time of year. Very excited to see how the freshman are able to control their nerves and landings in a bigger environment than they’ve competed in before, even though this is an unconventional year. Hoping for at least one 10 this season for Sami, Reagan, Sarah E, and possibly Christina on floor. Concerned about bars dismounts but I’m hoping Alyona can hone in her landing and Haleigh chooses to do her double front half out as it is her better, cleaner dismount. GEAUX TIGERS

Seeing some Arkansas blogs saying that Emma Jean looks really good thus far. Hoping we get to see her on a couple of events the next two weeks. So proud of her.

Haleigh Bryant voted as top freshmen for 2021 season. Haleigh is getting a lot of hype for the season given her potential. Should be exciting to watch.

Just some updates that impact the upcoming meets vs. LSU on the Arkansas side according to Jordyn Weiber's zoom call.
Kennedy Hambrick and Sarah Shaffer will both be doing the AA. Both are actually really good and have awesome form (which improved even more under Weiber last year). They are Arkansas's best AA gymnasts (both can easily score 9.90 on each event). Hambrick has a gorgeous Y1.5 and Shaffer has a very clean half, which she often sticks. They're probably the strongest vaulters on the Razorback team.
Kiara Gianfagna has a foot injury but hopes to return in the second meet. She is probably their most consistent bar worker after Shaffer.
Arkansas will also rely on their freshmen a lot early on, which I'm hoping means we'll see Emma Jean Kelley on some events.

When will LSU lock in line ups for Friday’s meet? I’m most curious about floor.
Also how crazy is it that pac12 still hasn’t released schedules?!

LSU normally doesn’t release lineups until right before the team goes on the respective events at the meets. I only know of a few schools on the top of my head (OU, Auburn, Utah, UCLA sometimes) that release the lineups the morning/afternoon of the meet.
Regarding the PAC-12, from what I’ve read, the state of California is the biggest issue. With all of the restrictions, some schools have not been able to practice like other schools. UCLA, Cal, and Stanford have been the most affected. Utah has released a somewhat “partial” schedule.
