There’s a well written freshman preview of the LSU gymnasts up on the balance beam situation website today
I have to agree it was very well written. I enjoyed it.
This could easily be one of the best classes we ever had. I love the dynamics of it, Bryant is super powerful and her gymnastics is big. Dunne is very technical, artistic, and clean. Very yin and yang in terms of style. Elena has such a strong background and is just a solid all arounder. Obviously she will be a significant piece of our bars lineup this year.
Our walk on's have a lot of potential as well, Brock on vault and Ballard on beam. Should be fun to watch them grow.
So far this fall, I'm impressed by how the freshmen look and the progression of Alyona to her sophomore year. Freshmen are all making big impacts on all 4 events and they have routines filled with difficulty. Alyona is getting better and better, she looks so much more comfortable on bars with her new routine and she will be a big asset for us on vault.
Btw, I do hear there is interest in in Skye Blakely. I feel like that would be a tough pull considering where her sister is committed but I like her gymnastics a lot.

I’ve also loved seeing how much Maddie Rau has improved on vault so far compared to last season

saw Kai Rivers post a pic of her leg in a cast on her instagram a couple days ago... looked like an achilles injury to me. Any updates?
Yes it is an achilles injury most likely out for the year.

Watched the interestsquad on zoom today. Over all the team is looking pretty strong for this time of year I would say. Little nerves knowing there was about 50 or 60 people watching on zoom but there's a ton of depth in every lineup this year which Is extremely different from last year.
Bugs is really coming into her own as a coach. That the year at Penn state did her a ton of good because I think she feels much more like a coach now and not One of the team are just friends with the girls. She really takes charge.
The 3 big name freshman were really all over the events today. I missed the 1st part of vault but Elena Competed on the other 3 events I'm sure, Bryant did all around, and Dunne did at least the last 3. Edwards huge on vault and a great new floor routine. Rea only did beam b/c back pain, but was super on beam. Bridget looked really good on bars and beam. Alyona looked good in spots, like beam started great and kinda faultered toward the end. Bars Jay made her redo her routine because the 1st w a s subpar 2nd was better. Olivia G did bars and floor, will add depth. Kyia was Kyia....solid all the way around
Will have another intersquad in 2 weeks. If you join or have joined Tiger Spotters you can get a zoom link

I’ve been on the Skye Blakely bandwagon for about three years now. She is a very dynamic, all around gymnast. Would love to have her and Konnor. But I feel she’ll follow Sloan to Florida. With her not following LSU on any social media, I kind of feel she’s a no go.
Also, is LSU recruiting Sydney Morris? She caught my eye about two years ago for some reason she tends to fly under the radar.

She follows LSU on social media (IG). She actually just started following Gnat. 2023 can't be contacted due to recruiting rules at this time, we can next summer though.
Konnor would be top priority for that class. Jay has been on top of her forever. LSU is in her top group.

I haven't heard much on that end but I know the coaches have gotten to see her up close before. I hear a lot of names but as we move into next summer, we will have a way better picture of true 2023 targets. Theres a bunch girls they are still evaluating.

Hurts my heart to see Kai injured. I know the coaches had high hopes for her this year. She seemed to be progressing so well a few weeks ago from her foot injury. My heart goes out to her.

No idea to be honest. She has kept her recruitment on silent but she doesn't have to make a decision this fall. She could sign next year if she wants to. Most of the rumors have her going to one of the Cali schools but I know she really liked Florida before. If Education is the big factor, I assume Stanford would be a good landing spot.
I would much rather her go there than Florida or UCLA. They have enough talent as it is.

I hear ya! I don't see how all these girls expect to shine at Florida, UCLA, or even Utah. It seems pretty crowded on the podium, if you know what I mean. I would love to see her go to Stanford and I think that is the general consensus right now.

Are we even in the realm of possibilities? Not that I’ll ever get my hopes up again lol

So is that all that is in this class? I saw Tori Tatum signed also. So is it just 3 of them coming in next year?
