We knew it was more likely than not but it was really important to land a talent like her! We have to keep up with the Florida’s and UCLA’s. Oklahoma has proven time and time again that you don’t need all the Olympians, World members, elites, etc to have a great team. We have such amazing talent and keep building depth. It’s now time for the coaching staff to make the right decisions regarding routine construction and element choices.

Will be interesting to watch how the rest of that class shapes out. I think we see a nice blend of level 10's with another elite or two.

I think they have to wait for basketball schedule to come out so later on in the fall. So I saw where on the goat tour (total eye roll) all the Olympian’s are competing except Suni. As an auburn fan I would be like “thank goodness!”. As an Oregon and Utah fan I would be “crap, I hope they don’t get hurt.” What do y’all think?

It’s Oregon STATE not Oregon. Oregon refers to The University of Oregon in Eugene (Mascot is the ducks and their colors are green and yellow) which is completely different from Oregon State University (Mascot is the beavers, colors are orange and black and they have a gymnastics team), where Jade will be attending.
Second, I was told Suni was asked to be a part of Simone’s tour like the rest of the Tokyo Olympic team but opted out so that she can focus on being a full time student athlete at Auburn and transition to college this fall per her original plan instead of starting in December like Grace and Jordan are doing or returning to classes in January like MyKayla and Jade are doing.

According to a relatively recent NY Times article, Suni might still join parts of the tour. However, I am not sure if sth has changed since the interview (app. two weeks ago).

Jeez, I know the difference between Oregon and Oregon st. I’m not sure why you got so upset about that but anyway. I wasn’t bagging on suni not being in the tour. I was actually thinking auburn would be grateful that she would not be putting her body through that.
I too heard she may go on a few of the dates. I wonder if maybe one near her dad so he can see her.

I would think Suni can do a few dates with absolutely no problem. She seemed to be in really good shape as far as injuries are concerned. She isn’t a fragile gymnast. Auburn must be over the moon to have her, I was convinced she would turn pro but the new rules have really made a difference and it 100% benefits college gymnastics. I haven’t been to a home meet in a while because everything is live on television now but I may make it to the Auburn meet if I can get a ticket to say I watched the Olympic AA champ compete.

She’s actually been dealing with an ankle injury since 2019 that’s made it so she can’t always compete vault or floor. That’s why she often only did 3 passes on floor.

Suni is definitely a program changer. Season tickets already sold out and Olivia Greaves would have never committed to AU otherwise. You can also see huge Suni billboards around town, etc…
SEC will be still tough for Auburn, though. LSU and Florida will compete for the conference championship and the rest will have to fight it out…I hope LSU can beat the Gators (I just can’t stand them and I have massive respect for LSU’s gymnastics program. I think LSU’s pre-meet hype and overall atmosphere is the best in the country. Probably the best facilities nationwide).

I look forward to watching Suni in NCAA. She is pure class not withstanding her obvious gymnastics abilities. Every program needs that 'one' recruit to help jump start it to open the door for better talent.
Hopefully we can get more people in the gyms for this gymnastics season. NCAA is always pretty exciting after an olympic cycle with the influx of elite members.
I am not even sure exactly, LSU is recruiting the WCC girls pretty hard (Zoe Miller and Amari Drayton). There are some very good level 10 recruits high on the radar (Kylie Coen, Morgan Price, Elizabeth Ganter). Jay seems very high on Coen and the WCC gymnasts.
Hopefully we can get more people in the gyms for this gymnastics season. NCAA is always pretty exciting after an olympic cycle with the influx of elite members.

Some big names. Konnor might do some recruiting for you guys now. Gantner is already committed to UGA. What about Addison Fatta?

I heard Gantner reopened her recruitment from Georgia. Interestingly, she removed her Georgia commitment post and from her bio. As far as I know she is on market. Georgia has been a mess lately, they were basically at the very bottom last year.
Addison and Trinity Thomas come from the same gym. She just gives me that Florida vibe and its apparent she is a fan. She was just there for a camp.

Fatta hasn’t committed anywhere yet. She said her hope is that by the end of the summer she’ll be able to announce where she’s going. Given how close she is with Trinity Thomas though, my money is in Florida, though I hope for everyone in the SEC’s sake, I’m wrong.

Not sure if this means anything but she follows Jay’s personal account in Instagram. Also she trains with my cousin so I could ask her for an inside scoop on what Elizabeth and some of the other JPAC girls are thinking college wise

That would be cool. She is very talented. I thought Garrett was recruiting her while at Utah. Anyways, kids like Coen and Gantner give me that Myia Hambrick vibe, just extremely fundamentally sound level 10 gymnasts across all events where they will score well at the next level.
Jay has been working on Kylie Coen for a while. I get the sense that is his number one target of the level 10 girls. I'm a big fan as well. Her AA scores will jump through the roof even more once she upgrades her vault (she has trained a 1.5 and double). She scored near a 39 at nationals even with not her best vault.

Can we call it yet on Hurd not going to Florida? I’ve long thought she won’t go. She was not at orientation and is not listed on the roster (yes she’s supposedly starting in January but that was said of Leanne Wong too , yet Leanne was at orientation and is on the roster).

I dont think anyone knows at this point. Some say she is going in January, I guess we will see in a short period of time.
The more interesting question is what the hell is going on with Shilese Jones? I thought she graduated a year ago

Morgan is going on Simone's tour. That is the reason she was not at orientation and is not at Florida yet. It may also be the reason she is not yet on the roster. However, Morgan has been incredibly vocal about the fact that she still fully intends to compete for Jenny and the Gators this upcoming season.
As for Shilese, I am not 100% positive but I think she may be trying for worlds this fall. If that is not the case then I don't know. She was supposed to have signed with Florida and gone last fall but deferred due to covid and to try to make the Tokyo team. Her bio has said Future Gator since 2016, with no year after it indicating when she plans to start at Florida. Until she actually signs her NLI for a college/university or declares that she is going pro, we won't officially know what is going on with her college situation since she has not spoken on it publicly.
EDIT: Will also add that Shilese is also going on Simone's tour and is most likely focusing on that right now.
