I honestly think it comes down to the off season. What you do in the off season is often more important than what you do during the season. A question that I think these girls should be asking one another as soon as the season ends is, “What is one thing we can each do in the off season to come back stronger next season?”
For some the answer to that is unfortunately surgery and the resulting recovery. For some the answer is rest and recover. For others the answer is to prepare mentally and seek improvement there. But for others that can, the answer is to get into the gym and work on things. No you can’t go as hard as during season and no you can’t have your coaches working with you, but working on little things in the gym will go a long way.
I love Joe Burrow’s work ethic during the off season. I’ll bet if we asked Oklahoma what their off season looks like, we’d see a lot of hard work behind it. I’ll bet Florida did the same with their motivation not to be left behind at nationals this year.
This could be as simple as working flexibility while resting other areas. Maybe working on leaps to improve them or working a toe point or working stick drills. Whatever it takes...work those problem passes so they never lose their readiness! Come back in September for practice in shape for season.
Our most successful teams have had strong upper class leaders who have taken the charge on things like this. I believe I remember DD mention Sydney Ewing’s leadership in the off-season to challenge everyone to keep conditioning strong and keep nutrition top notch. It paid off majorly!
We certainly are not lacking in talent from last year. Our talent level is the same! Even with the injuries we have, we should be seeing some cleaner and better things.
That being said, I still believe whole heartedly in this team! They have a lot of fight in them and there is still plenty of time. We’ve got 2 meets this weekend to put up 2 strong scores. It is by no means over! They’ve got this! My confidence and faith is in them! Go crush it girls...we are all behind you!

LSU recruiting target Selena Harris qualified to the NL cup. Still awaiting for the results of some of our commits.
Also random thought. D'Antonio had a very good beam routine during her exhibition performance, but why in gods name is she doing that incredibly difficult leap series when she comes absolutely no where near the full split? The series alone cost her a full .10 of a point. Give her easier leaps, then we got a routine we can work with. She looked good though outside of that and she actually competed with some confidence. Keep working hard on cleaning up and that could eventually be a very usable routine.

What was her leap series?

Switch leap - Switch 1/2
The same series as Desiderio, Campbell and Johnson.

Olivia Dunne with a great meet in Arizona, won AA title with 38.600 score with event titles on vault, beam and floor, 2nd on bars.
Bryant and Arenas made it down to GAGE for the dragon invitational which is a NL qualifier. Final results from this meet still isn’t available at this time.

TigerBait - do you know if Dunne qualified as the top senior for Nastia Liukin cup at the meet in Arizona? I think hers was a NL qualifier as well.

Don’t think she did. Selena Harris competed at this meet and qualified but I think she qualified at the junior level. They take one junior and one senior
Abby Schimmel had a monster meet scoring over a 39 in the AA with a 10 on bars and beam

Struggled getting over injuries. Kirby usually takes a lot longer to heal than most gymnasts in general. It’s shame because LSU could really use her on vault and floor right now. She had a great sophomore year and seemed to be on track for a bigger junior year before the injury bug hit her.
Good news is there is a very good chance we get Edney back on more events this weekend. I think we can “get through” without her on bars but her vault is desperately needed. Edwards is actually progressing very well right now too. Hopefully we can get Kai in on floor very soon. We may see Alyona on beam this weekend, maybe. She is vaulting much more, so maybe she will be an option at some point soon!

Well that is good news. If we can take advantage of getting some big scores this weekend - we will be in better shape.

Just saw Kiyas floor routine from the meet. How the hell did that only score a 9.9?
Even more embarrassing, edney was given the exact score with a far inferior routine. More trash NCAA judging

Thx, was unsure if she hit the cut off age for the senior level.
Hopefully LSU gets a commitment from Selena this summer. She plans to be coming back.
Kiya with another FOTW honor

She is now considered a student coach. This is her Senior year and will be done

Can we take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness of Kiya Johnson?! She has only one score of less than 9.80, and that was the first meet of the season on beam. She also has fifteen scores of 9.90 or better and eight scores in the 9.80-9.875 range. So happy she's on our team!
