The commentators said that she didn't finish her routine within the time frame that is allotted after a fall.

Neither did the Georgia girl who fell. She took over 30 seconds as well.

I know rules are rules but do the judges really expect a gymnast who almost got seriously injured to get back up within 30 seconds or whatever?

Yep. I timed Vega at 37 seconds. The last UGA girl who fell twice made it but definitely not Vega.

I read that the time is 45 seconds now which Sabrina made and alyona didn’t. I don’t think jay really cared about the time. I think he was making sure she was okay and talking to her before she get back on bars.

I agree about Jay! It was almost like he wanted her to complete the whole routine again, just as a confidence booster and to show herself she can do it. He didn’t seem to care about the deductions.

I'm happy she got back up and was able to do the full routine after that. She will be big for us down the road, I know its tough right now but she will get a lot better. I do think Jay will need to consider changing up that bar routine. Don't have everything connected. Can she do that combination? Absolutely but I would like to see us take some of the stress off her in that routine. Its a pretty tricky combination. Harder than Finnegan and Priessman's routines last year.

I'm happy they took the pirouette out Kai's bars this week. Now its a matter of her polishing up the handstands and some form. Its going to score very well by the end of the year. We just have to find a way to get Desiderio healthy and eventually get Kai in that floor lineup but things seem to be trending the right direction for Kai right now.

I’m really surprised that the bars lineup has been the most troublesome event thus far. Jay being the bars whisperer that he is, I didn’t expect this many problems and uncertainly. But I do give him some slack. No one expected Bailey to be out this year. And I bet Jay didn’t think Alyona would be this much work. He’s definitely earning every bit of that raise.

Looks like LSU commit Tori Tatum had a pretty good meet at the Gopher JO invite. She scored a 9.8 (1st) on bars and a 9.425 (3rd) on beam. She didn’t compete vault and floor, which is typical for the first meet of the season.

Annie Beard and Katylyn Johnson competed this weekend at the Alamo classic. This is Johnson's first meet since having surgery. Only did bars and beam. She won the bars title with a 9.700. Vault and floor are her best events. Both kids coming back from injuries

Sierra Ballard competed as well, she debuted a double layout on floor with a couple other upgrades.

LSU recruiting target Selena Harris with a 9.90 on bars to open the season

Beard did really well on vault and bars, finishing second on both with matching 9.40 scores. Looks like she had a fall on beam (8.975). She didn’t do floor. But Beard has looked really good in recent training videos. I’m kinda happy she dropped back down to Level 10 because she looks much healthier and happier now. She never looked quite comfortable while she was an elite.

Watching this UCLA vs. Boise State meet. UCLA is imploding on beam.

The judges are definitely making up for a rough beam with these outrageous floor scores.

I think we all expected a slow start with all the injuries. But don’t fret. I think the team will be better in the long run for the way the season has started.

Also, is anyone else having a hard time with people on social media? Social media has been very unpleasant for me for about the past two years. I do not understand why people hate LSU so much. Oh my gosh! People were complaining about the scoring at Friday's meet (mostly vault and beam) and how the gymnasts did not deserve those scores. Two people even took a shot at Edney, saying she should not have been the anchor on beam because of her form. They were saying that you shouldn't score build, but every team does it (i.e. when Hundley anchoring Florida's floor at nationals in 2018). My thing is, get mad at the judges and not the gymnasts. I was a little baffled with UCLA's floor and vault scoring last night, but I didn't make a status criticizing the gymnasts. My friends, social media has gotten out of control. I don't know if I can deal with all the negativity for too much longer.

Additionally, for all those worried about Alyona on bars, I say LSU has a little precedent here. Finnegan fell four times her freshman year on bars, most memorable at the SEC Championships (I was there) and the Super 6. And she became a two time national champion on bars. While Alyona does not have the same basic technique as Sarah, I think she'll turn out just fine. Just gotta find a routine composition that she can execute and get more comfortable with.

I just wonder will they change it this season or wait for the off season to change the routine up. I think maybe you should put Bridget in for a couple of meets while they work on her routine or put her at the end of the lineup so there is hopefully no pressure for her to hit. just my 2 cents. Super pumped about this teams ceiling though.

LSU lives rent free in the heads of a lot of the gymternet that’s for sure.

Alyona will be fine. I’ve seen her in the gym rocking some superb/flawless routines minus the dismount. I think the big thing is her mental state the first two meets were a giant struggle. She rushed both routines. She missed her foot on the low bar week 1, then rushed the 2nd meet and had a bad grip on the bar.

Coming off the injury, Alyona has struggled a little bit with not being able to do the reps she did while she was an elite. As an elite, she practice all day every week. In college, you reps are significantly reduced and it’s all about using your time efficiently to save your body. This can be a adjustment for many elites.

With all that said, considering the lack of reps and coming off such an injury. Jay needs to change the routine. She is doing a combination that is more difficult than priessmans routine from last year. That is a very difficult combination to hit, that’s something an elite would be doing. They need to relieve the stress off that routine. Construct a more simple routine where she can focus on executing the skills. Upgrade later down the road.

I personally think Kiya should anchor vault as well. I wish we would stop forcing double backs to the end of every routine for the sake of difficulty. Not needed at all considering they all do E passes.

Anyone have any thoughts on Jessica Yamzon's bar routine that scored 9.675? I know there has been some chatter on Twitter regarding her score. I personally thought it was a 9.775-9.80 routine.

Worst thing I've seen this week is a massive thread about how our leos rode up a bit on some girls. People were insinuating that our girls did it on purpose and had no self-respect. Really disgusting attitude in my opinion. Sure, it's not great, but a quick tug and problem solved. People will go so far to discredit our girls and put them down for the smallest things, it's awful to see. Can't wait to prove them wrong.
