I know she has competed but it apparently looks as if she has done little to no training. Maybe she took some time off and is finally getting back where she wants to be in time for her arrival at LSU. But if she is and has been training then why does she look so horrible in competition? Something is not right. Is she injured?

Caitlin has been training and competing this year. So far she has competed at 3 meets.
You are correct, the issue is she looks like she hasn't done gymnastics in 5 years. She is having falls on every event. Even when she has trained over the last year, it wasn't very much.
Don't think she has stayed on the beam the last two 1/2 years of JO competition.
I hope she pulls it off I really do but I see absolutely nothing that tells me she contributes anything unless a drastic change happens. I would say Gracen Stanley and Kaitlyn Szafranski were kids in far better shape/development when they came to LSU, neither came close to sniffing a lineup.
I stand by this scholarship is purely on what she did as a 14 year old. She has zero JO accomplishments. Her development has gone no where due to the injuries and lack of consistent training.
Kai and Kiya are dramatically different stories. Both are JO All around national champions and are decorated with a lot of accolades these last 5 years.

What is up with Gracen Standley? I know she's still with the team? Did she do like Kylie Moran and switch to manager?

Will they pull the scholarship if she does not improve significantly?
Does not seem to be as much processing as other sports even if yhe gymnast does not develop as predicted.

At least now with the new recruiting rules in place You're not stuck offering 13 and 14 year olds who may or may not develop the way you

Emma Kelley’s Instagram story shows a new LSU commitment but not sure who it is.
And nice wins this weekend, great to see Sami back and that great ending floor rotation!

There isn’t a new commitment! Maybe one in particular soon (wink)
Kai Rivers competed at the Excalibur cup this past weekend. She only did vault, bars and beam but won event titles on all 3. Her bars were superb, she posted one of the highest bars scores in all of JO this season. She is nursing a minor injury which is why she didn’t do floor.
Kiya Johnson competed at the presidential classic this past weekend but only did a lighter work load this week, bars and beam. Had great sets. Her beam looks dramatically improved this year. Bodes well for us, she should be able to step in immediately on beam for LSU.
Elena Arenas had a good showing last weekend as well. Won floor and bars title. She had a crash on vault, something weird happened off the table but the good news is she is fine.
Haleigh Bryant was probably the most impressive this past weekend at the Everest classic. She swept all event titles and posted a 39 in the all around. You don’t see kids reach past 39 in the all around very often at level 10. The injury looks like it’s not bothering her. She is upgrading some of her routines as well.

There is a new verbal commit. Her name is Karen but I don’t know her last name, or anything about her for that matter. I can’t find any videos on social media of her. Not sure what she’s good at.

Is Cannamela no longer training bars?
Seems like she would be a higher scoring option than Dean or Ferrer on that event.

I think in the end the bars lineup will be Durante, Ferrer, Harold, Edney, Priessman, & Finnegan. Priessman has been out with a jammed finger and sore shoulder (all stemming from bars mishap at Kentucky). I don’t think there is a need for Julianna to still train bars at this point. Dean will be the backup.

Can anyone explain what the deal was with MK's Floor score Friday night? It seemed HORRIBLE scoring,,, is there an explanation? I know DD and Jay seemed very upset by it!

Aleah Finnegan was given an assignment at International Gymnix competition in Montreal Canada on March 8-10
She has showed really well at the camps.
I like Dean but she has no business being in that lineup. That is my lineup as well. Cannamela doesn't do bars anymore btw., not since her injury sophomore year.
If anyone wants to see more UCLA bias, watch Kayla Ross's vault that got a 9.925
LINK
Not only is she short of rotation, she take quite the hop backwards. This is a big reason NCAA Gym has been not so enjoyable this year.

Apparently there was some kind of controversy with the judges saying that she had not fulfilled enough bonus requirements to reach A 10.0 start value. I know they put in repeal but were denied

Did they not credit her leap series? That's the only thing I can think of because she fulfills all the tumbling requirements. Sometimes she doesn't get much of a tuck position on the tuck 1.5 and I suppose a strict set of judges could not credit it. But that is really strange for both of them to make that decision because it hasn't been an issue for her in 3 years of competing that series.

So Kyla Ross has three 10's in the last three meets, including one before that vault. Seeing that she got a 9.925 for that vault, I guess it's not surprising that she has three 10's! (she may have more than three, they just said three in the last three meets) I'm sorry, there has to be some biased judging going on. Sarah Finnegan could NOT do a floor routine any better than she did last Friday (it was perfect, so there's no room for improvement) and yet she gets a 9.95.
We're not the only ones complaining about judging bias. Utah feels many of their girls are underscored, too, especially compared to UCLA and Oklahoma. I wish there would be more accountability and/or weekly reviews of scores. Maybe there is something like that, I have no idea, but if there is, it's not working.

Some good news for LSU's elites
-Aleah Finnegan was named to the senior national team today.
-Lilly Lippeatt was named to the junior national team.
Both Aleah and Lilly were assigned to compete in Canada together! The national teams were amended after a national team verification camp last week
Congrats to those two

I have been saying for a long time that judges deductions need to be made public after the meet. Within a few days someone can transcribe their notes and post them. Figure skating shows each judges marks for every single element in their routine. You can see which judge gave extra points for an element and which judge deducted. The bias is easy to find when it is there (and it often is). There is no reason this can't be done in gymnastics. I want to know exactly why the judges have twice given Finnegan a 9.9 for a floor routine when the other judge gave it a 10. I demand to know where they took a tenth off.
Are the coaches allowed to see or ask the judges why they gave a certain score?

Pretty impressive for someone who just joined the elite world to make the US national team first year as a senior. Aleah is a special talent, she has certain qualities that Sarah lacked as an elite that makes her a bit different. Both of their gymnastics is flawless though so they have that in common

They can inquire over start value, I don't think they can do anything about "execution deductions". Coaches also have to be careful as they are not allowed to hound the judges over scores, they can pick up a team or neutral deduction from doing so.
