A strongly worded and damning post from junior Kara Eaker after retiring from Utah Gymnastics, detailing the verbal and psychological abuse from head coach Tom Farden. For an All-American to retire and expose this abuse, I expect repercussions in their organization and recruitment. I can't believe a head coach emotionally damaged one of the best beamer workers into retirement. A sad day for the gymnastics community!

I don't think the Utah coach is gonna survive this when its all said and done. Eaker coming out with all of that is going to leave a black cloud around that program moving forward, good luck recruiting.

You have allegations coming from within with multiple kids confirmed having to be hospitalized for suicidal ideation due to all the abuse and then Eaker comes out with this...

I don't know the reason Hoffman, Sage, and company transferred but you can't help but wonder even more now.

I remember watching one of Kara’s beam routines her freshman year. I think it was Four on the Floor. It was a great routine but she looked relieved after she finished. I thought that was kind of odd. I thought she’d be more happy. The weight that must have been on her shoulders just to prove herself. Makes me so sad.

I honestly hope that NCAA does a full in detail, in-depth investigation on their entire athletic department, and that Myia’s reputation has not been tarnished by these reports and she is able to get out before the storm gets so much worse at Utah. Kara is only one of many student athletes, the University of Utah failed to protect, and it’s absolutely heartbreaking that they are continuing to fail at their job of protecting the people who are supposed to be representing their university at the highest level.

Not that this is important in the scheme of things, but I wonder if this affects their recruiting. Like would this change some of their minds. Mustafari in particular looked really interested in Utah.

Also please leave Myia! Don’t get sucked into that shite.

Utah was actually rumored to be a favorite for Mustafari previously but I heard her LSU went 'really really well' and that they liked where they stood with her.

Yeah I hope she gets away from all of that mess. Even if you didn't do anything just being in the building with that going on isn't a good look for anyone.

Fortunately Myia has only been there a couple of years so it would be hard to link her to any of the nefarious happenings. Still. it would be good if she could land something elsewhere to distance herself from it.

The foul language that Farden hurled at Kara is totally off the charts. It was the epitome of verbal abuse. IMO the University needs to rethink the decision in letting him remain HC for the program. I hope some good will come out of Kara's heartbreaking experience.

It has been said that she tagged all kinds of news sources/organizations in her post, including LA times, NY times, ESPN, etc.

Utah turned off their Instagram comments. Hope they don't think that simply ignoring the criticism will make the situation any better!

The stuff coming out of Utah is wild. I would be really interested to know Courtney and Garrett really think of Tom Farden. I also hope Miya’s reputation isn’t tarnished by proximity to Tom.

I remember when the initial reports came out about the investigation, the Salt Lake Tribune detailed that two former staff members spoke on the condition of anonymity about what was going on with Tom at Utah and the abuse. Makes me wonder if it was G and Court especially considering two former Ute gymnasts have transferred to LSU and have said coming allowed them to find their true happiness.

Clearly, Courtney and Garrett were not part of the problem. They left a while back and multiple gymnasts have transferred to LSU since. Not that I ever suspected they were a problem but I always found it interesting that they left such a good program. I wondered what push factor there was because there is usually more than just a pull factor when you move across the country to some place totally new.

it’s hard to imagine anyone committing to Utah after the National coverage their program is getting for their abuse and with them not addressing it publicly.

we know that Oklahoma has no more scholarships left, so it’s gotta be down to LSU or Florida for Mustari. I think she’ll end up being a tiger though

There was some rumors around Mustari was wanting to leave the state for a while. Utah was one of the biggest competitors for her services but the lsu visit went exceptionally well. I know Florida was pushing hard but hasn’t heard much in terms of her interest there.

Adding Mustari to this class would be big.

So happy for Miller. Her bars is gorgeous.

Not NCAA related but did anyone see Andrade’s Cheng from EF? It is one of the best pieces of gymnastics I have ever seen. Quite literally rivals Maroney’s Amanar from the Olympics. Hard to find the deduction (I assume pike down .1 and slightly off center .1??) but it scored the same E score as Maroney and I think ties for highest vault E score since the COP.

I also noticed leg separation preflight. That and the slight pike down were the only deductions I came up with. But I would have given it a 10 E score anyway. It was a thing of beauty.
