There are a couple of juniors US national team members who IMO are LSU leans right now. Izzy Stassi especially is one they feel really good about

LSU moved up to 6th in the RTN Standings. Haleigh is #1 on vault!

I agree but if Jay keeps favoring seniors, too difficult beam leap passes and refuses the trend of 2 pass floor routines then we will never win without a ton of luck. Changes have got to come from the top.

I will give the coaches credit this year for making adjustments this year - however, I think there are a lot of routines we wouldn’t have seen, but for injuries, that is they were forced to make the change because there was no other choice - and that may not be the best approach. That’s what I hope he takes from this year - that sometimes, easing freshman in, only using consistent but lower ceiling gymnasts isn’t the best approach to try to win championships.

Jay has an interview on Tiger TV that was done a couple of hours ago (Monday night). I just hope we can follow the scoring on Twitter Friday night with videos of our routines. Jay said every team will be competing at the same time like Post Season competition. We are ranked ahead of the other three teams so I assume we would start on vault.

While we may be ranked higher than the other 3 teams we’re competing against, we can’t get complacent and think this is going to be an easy win, especially since Cal is essentially nipping at our heels and only the smallest of bits behind us. If we don’t channel the way we competed against OU, Florida, Auburn, or Bama, Cal can and will snatch the victory from us. In other words, we need to hit bars and beam cleanly and solidly and leave no room for doubt or error

I agree!! It seems by what Jay said in the interview he realizes LSU must fight to the end. California's bars always seem to get great scores. They will be on the top of their game on Friday. We NEED another great away score so hopefully the team will be in the mental frame "to take it" as has been their fight chant over the past meet wins.

Haleigh is SEC Gymnast of the Week!

LINK

ETA: I hoped they would recognize Chase Brock as Specialist of the Week but Derrian got the honor.

They should not “give it” to anyone just because. Dicello is very likely the best freshman competing. Who else would you give the title to?

Frankie Price or Lauren Williams of Arkansas, Naya Howard or Ja’Free Scott of Georgia, Gabby Gladieux of Alabama, Addi Lawrence of Missouri. Yea they may not all be scoring as high as Kayla or getting the 10s she’s getting (stupid leo bonus and subjective scoring in the sport but that’s just how it is), but their accomplishments still deserve to be recognized

For anyone who has been to Nationals in Fort Worth at Dickie’s Arena, would you recommend staying at a hotel near the arena or elsewhere, like downtown? I’ve been to Fort Worth twice, but both times the meet was at the convention center downtown. I don’t know if I would prefer being near the arena or downtown where there are good restaurants, etc. I’m not assuming we’ll make it, but I’d like to book something just in case, that I can cancel if we don’t. Thanks!

So According to you they should give trinity the sec gymnast of the week every week because she’s honestly the best college gymnast competing right now. I’m just saying fotw doesn’t have to be an aa’er. There are other freshman who have been great even if only on a few events.
