#UPDATE: Was privileged enough to steal a little bit of time out of 2023 5?? DL David Hicks Jr’s day and got to ask the highly rated recruit a few questions about his recruitment:
-
I asked David what the biggest factor was when finding the right school and fit for him was and “family” was all he had to say. Finding the right overall fit for him and his family in a program that provides the best opportunities and sense of family will be the key to his recruitment. Hicks has already taken a few unofficial visits to some schools including #LSU. I asked him about his thoughts on LSU, and Hicks replied, “I don’t really have any top schools or anything, but my family is from Louisiana so LSU is always talked high about and praised.” Hicks seemed to enjoy his LSU visit, and we’ll see if the Tigers can get him back to campus next summer for an official visit.
-
We didn’t just talk colleges, I wanted to know more about what David thought personally about his game and the way he plays. David told me his “violence and quick get off” is what separates him from the rest of the field and why college scouts are drooling over the chance at snagging him.
-
I appreciate the time @thakiddj2x kids gave me as well as great information to my questions, want to wish him nothing but the best and hopefully we will see him in a Tiger uniform in the future????

It's amazing to me how so many great players have family connections or once lived in Louisiana. A testament to the level of player and bloodlines we have here.

Such a true statement, it feels like about 50% of the time the highly-rated out-of-state kids that we are after have some kind of connection to the state of Louisiana!

Was a beast at LSU’s camp and gave Campbell fits. I thought it was crazy how 247 never did a feature on him after camp.

Love me a violent player, especially up front on the line.

It's a testemenat to how horribly this state is run that the best quality people have been leaving in droves for 50 years.

I concur, another reason for "family connections" ... Katrina and other hurricanes that forced thousands of people to evacuate who would never return home. Once you leave the State for a job opportunity, college, or evacuation, you soon realize how dysfunctional Louisiana is.

True. But only about 10 blue blood states when it comes to football. Louisiana is top 5 for sure

That was kinda the basis of the TOPs program, to keep kids in state

Also a connection to “Hurricane Katrina “ that devastated La and spread so many families from here to everywhere, with parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and peeps that left that stayed, but still in some of these younger athletes heart and soul is still connected to Louisiana.

Just got Fong’d to A&M. I don’t get it but they are killing recruiting lately with the OL and DL.

Damn really.

Hicks is going to be a star.

A&m has been building on that d-line for a couple yrs. Elko is no joke.

Yeah I look for him to get a HC job soon. Maybe that will slow them down some.

A small part of me wants A&M to keep recruiting the way they are since news of Tx/ou joining SEC. I’m not trying to be Billy Badass with this comment. They will have a nice roster for a couple years, but they Will have even harsher penalties than Ole Miss. As is, even if they go back to their normal model, the damage is done. W/O sounding repetitive there really are unwritten boundaries. They blatantly crossing. There IS chatter . LSU does not Narc directly. There are Universities that do. I would also think Longhorns are taking notes also. Love them or hate them they have lots and lots of money and very vindictive with direct connections to back channel and orchestrate things that are pretty brutal to their competitors, yet their hands look clean. So is it at a point of me just wishful thinking. Time will tell. But something telling me to bookmark this. I m pretty sure no one would be upset with old Iota if I can pull this up in year or 2 and say. I Told You So….

Would like to know more about these “unwritten rules” maybe we could exchange emails at some point? I’m in an Aggie family.

With the NCAA recently neutered, who’s going to enforce rules? Schools will find NIL loopholes and avoid trouble.

Oh man, it will come out. Not for me to be 1st to break that kind of news. Pretty sure Longhorns will accidentally leak something in due time. I think most schools letting Aggies gather more rope. And then I may be totally off , and they skate free due to uncertainty in NIL laws, good lawyers find holes in vague laws. But 1 thing I am pretty certain about, if same things being done now were done 5 years ago. It would be inevitable.
