You guys seeing it hearing any reaction from recruits concerning the Jones hire? Most likely the reaction is like everyone else ”wait and see”.

Taken from another post on the rant, Shea said that Ricks liked the hire. That’s all I got.

So you’re under the impression the players we’re recruiting had heard of him prior to this week?

I think we both know what’s to like about a guy not many have heard of from a player’s perspective in today’s climate.....

That man is young and hungry!!!!

You think recruits had ever heard of Pete Golding when Alabama hired him? How about whoever the coordinator is at Georgia? Or Ohio State?

Of course not. That’s why there is no reason for people to get so upset and defensive about it. He has a great chance to be successful here, but that doesn’t change the fact that recruits knew nothing about him at all.

My question is are we going to running a 3-4, 4-3 or multiple fronts. I know we have loaded up on d-linemen so I'm curious how that will play out.

On 4-3 vs 3-4
Per mike D on dandy don.

quote:

Scott: From a personnel standpoint, Orgeron was vocal about wanting to move to a 4-3 front last year, but has recently spoken about the need to be multiple. What do you know about the type defense Jones runs, and do you see any issues in terms of personnel?
Mike: He’s not changing from the 4-3 concept, he has said that, but you will have multiple looks and changing on down and distance spots. It’s like the pros do in different personnel groups for different spots to get off the field on 3rd down. So you are going to see more nickel/dime sets, at times a 3-4 look, at times a 4-3 look. You can’t stay in one defense all game. Everything today is hybrid and that has nothing to do with the personnel you recruit. It may affect a few players especially at the nose tackle spot who are best suited to play in a 3-4 defense, but LSU recruits athletic linebackers and those LB’s have to cover well. It is the change in the game today. Hybrid safety/linebackers to match up better versus the pass and also safeties that can blitz off the edge. You have to give different looks for different situations. These coaches break the game-tape down to powder today and find your weaknesses and tendencies. The personnel is there to succeed, but you have to come up with the right scheme to utilize their talents. Coaching does matter. Yes, you win with talent, but those coaches have to place that talent in the right spot to succeed.

Damn I wish R Davis would come here.
