Saw him against West Monroe, very athletic. Caught a TD over the DB. Impressive kid, looks like a definite asset if we can sign him.

He honestly reminds me a bit of another former HS TE turned LSU OT that has done pretty well in the NFL...

Andrew Whitworth.

I don't see anything wrong with letting him play TE and cross training him for OT at the same time. He will not be ready immediately anyway. He'll need to develop into that OT. Meanwhile let him play at TE and block like a tackle on from the TE spot.

The light will come on for him, especially after he sees the competition defending him and realizes it's his $$$ position at the next level.

You are correct. A lot of tackles start out playing tight end. The staff wants him we know. I think that he is just getting his grades in order. I would like to see him in this class. But the coaches know what they are doing.

s he a grade casualty?

Yes he is.

I never have inside info on players. But I actually know one of his coaches. Not head coach. Says ray cant get above a 16 on the act. Says the kid really doesn't give a shite either. Has little hope he will make the grades.

This pretty much sums it up. Him not signing had nothing to do with him playing TE or OT. He is willing to do whatever to help the team.

Don't you just need an 18?

ACT score and core GPA go hand and hand. He can have a 16 but will need a higher GPA. The problem is that Ray needs to put in the work to help his cause.

Uhhh, well somebody tell him he’d help the team immensely (not to mention help himself) by handling his bidness academically.

I'm content to let him try to play whatever position he wants to play. At some point, the desire to see the field and play will over-rule everything else and he will find his natural position to excel.
