not trying to be difficult, but if maurice smith or priest willis wanted to commit then what would happen.
1. we accept commitment.
2. we visit school to see in person first
3. delay until he goes to camp
in other words can we see what we need to see from film and the IN PERSON requirement is only for guys you don't EXCEL on tape or is there something else.

There's more tape both from games and various combines on the better known/higher rated/more successful program players like priest willis. Not just LSU's coaches but all of the college coaches have had access to this tape. Guys like Robinson just don't have that evidence out there.

6 ft 3 inch corners with speed and long arms do not grow on trees. you take him, worry about the problem of having more commit when they want to commit.

I know it was hand-timed, but also was on grass wearing football cleats rather than on a fast trach with track shoes. Unless the timer's start/stop finger was way off, that's flying.

sounds good for now guys. I don't care one way or the other what the LSU position is on seeing guys in person. having said that if we don't accept his (or any other prospect that has an offer) commitment thats not good. if you offer a kid and won't stand behind your word and take his commitment then that is the same to me as a prospect committing to a school and then not standing behind his word and decommitting.
I know this is how the world of recruiting works but don't get mad if a kid decommits if we offer kids and then won't take their commitment.

His offer isnt committable right now. They want to get him on campus to evaluate.

Exactly, these kinds of things happen every year.
Last year after Stacy Searels visited Josh Thomas (Evangel), Josh told Scout Texas had offered him. The recruiting community later heard that his offer possibly wasn't a commitable one because Mac Brown hadn't made it. Searels was new to the Texas staff and Thomas was new to recruiting period. Regardless of what happened there was a misunderstanding about the commitment.
In April he committed to Houston. Scout still shows a Texas offer on his profile page but the article about his commitment says he also had offers from Mississippi State, Vanderbilt & North Texas.
We had our own uncomfortable situation with Patrick Miller last year. It isn't good when this kind of stuff happens but if the staff keeps the overall reputation clean with the kids, glitches like this won't damage the program.
We shouldn't get mad at kids for changing their minds about where they want to go to school. They are kids and it's their choice. I do get mad when they seemingly mislead our coaches late in the process on purpose. That leaves them scrambling for an alternative.
It's better for the kids to wait until they are sure they want to come before they commit. That gives every team recruiting them the opportunity keep recruiting for the spot they hope they take up. That's part of the reason it doesn't bother me that we don't have more guys committed yet. The higher ranked guys can more easily change their minds. They know it. That's what happened with Gunner. He knew he could go somewhere other than Indiana. He should have never committed to them or us. He should have taken all of the time he spent committed to Indiana deciding where he wanted to go. Instead he waited until two weeks before signing day and screwed up our class and Indiana's. I can forgive him for it because he didn't do it on purpose, but it still makes me mad. Some adult in his life should have helped him with the situation. It didn't have to happen, just like some of the other similar situations.
Sorry for rambling.

Chinese and projectp, good posts in this thread. Very good points and read of how things work with most kids.

im pretty sure coach raymond was talking to him at practice, and if i had to guess thats after school, which ended just 30 minutes ago. He will most likely commit today IMO.

This. That was my first thought when I saw him. He needs to come to LSU and get Moffitized

does anyone have an opinion on how robinson compares to raymond from last year. both are dbs that seem to have close to the same measurables.
any thoughts.

Very good question. Early returns point to them being similarly skilled athletically. Not a huge amount of footage of either one in coverage so it's kind of a tossup there. I know Raymond really looked good in coverage for a kid that hadn't played in 2 years last year but still it's just a small helping. I'm a big Raymond fan and supporter so I'll lean towards Raymond being the better prospect for now until I can see more of Robinson. Thinking back to last year when Raymond 1st burst on the scene, there are a ton of similarities in their physical attributes and the unknowns. Similar to Jalen Collins when he 1st came on the scene as well.

nobody believed that, even the few UT posters on here said that was false

If you actually read the thread instead of shitting it up like you're doing with that post, you'd have the answer to your question and you'd realize that there is a lot of valid info in this thread.
