You guys are rationalizing. We were defeated on this one. We lost to Maryland. It’s a battle, not the war, so we’ll get over it. But we would be better if he had signed with LSU. We’ve had other prima donnas at LSU (OBJ, for example) and done quite well with them.

A poster just above wisely wrote that all his talk sounds like he’s trying to convince himself. The same is true of our posters who say we’re better off without him. Imo, both Rakim and LSU would have been better off had he signed with LSU.

Yes, they do. Saban has been doing it for years - and with far more processing than LSU did this year - and it hasn’t slowed him down a bit.

I mean, you’re acting like LSU isn’t returning NFL WRs next year.

No they give them cash that’s funneled in from the church. That’s why they don’t take visits.

It doesn't sound at all like his flip was connected to Clowney. He was only saying that LSU fans upset at him flipping are hypocrites because they are ok with cutting Clowney loose.

The big difference to me is that we gave Clowney notice a month or so before ESD. Rakim flipped in the morning with no notice.

I can see why Burton wouldn't want to be on the same team with Rakim being concerned about personal branding so much.

What a head case. Dodged another bullet.

It's amazing how they're all head cases when they don't sign with LSU.

Rakim committed to a coach with a record of 6-40. That’s a weird way to retaliate. Lol

Lol this kid is clinging to whatever rationale he can to justify being a spineless bitch

He made his decision. He doesn’t need to keep trying to convince everyone that he did the right thing....unless he’s doubting it himself

You sound rational.

It’s not that hard to believe that 2 commits developed a strong bond over the course of their recruitment and seeing one getting dropped caused the other one pause or to be pissed. RJ is a proven liar though so nothing he says is believable.

Who cares what this kid thinks. Demon Clowneys stock was dropping, his interest in LSU was NOT there as it was and what a lame thing for RJ to say. RJ just didnt want to come compete with other receivers as good if not better than him. Gkad he flipped. Good riddance

Yeah, we’re so mad you went to a passing offense ranked 92nd over our 3rd ranked passing offense. Also we had two receivers in the Top 10 (Chase 2, Jefferson 9) and Maryland’s top receiver was 140th. Oh btw, you might’ve heard of our QB since he won the Heisman Trophy. Good luck with that!

Dabos visit rules may be spineless but they obviously work. Maybe we should follow his lead on that.

I agree. I voiced my concerns on this site about “processing” before it began. This wasn’t good. With that said, the coaches I’m sure thought through all this. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt.

Undoubtedly Maryland is no longer returning his texts with all the promised hard details on his Under Armour "branding" (whatever the frick that means). Now that he's trapped and Maryland won't help him justify what he's done, he's clearly projecting to find justification elsewhere. What a joke.

Actually what I posted is very rational

The kid showed cowardice in how he handled things and is going out of his way to tell everyone he did the right thing for him

Cool. Then shut up about it lol

We will be fine. Good receivers are a dime a dozen.

Not sure who he’s trying to convince by constantly tweeting shite nearly a week later

Go cry somewhere else dude

My issue with the so-called 'processing' is that we were too kind with it. Nice people get gut punched and taken advantage of.

By playing nice and giving the 'processed' (yes, incorrect use of term) recruits time to find a landing spot we also created space/time for other schools and some recruits to use against us.

We should have been more ruthless and processed only after the primary targets had signed.

The real risk Orgeron took was this playing nice. Everybody has a board and priorities, always have, always will. I keep saying people talking about taking the high road. Well, this is the high road. Look what it got us:

1. A pretty damn good class
2. But that niceness was repaid with vindictiveness

Yes- I know. Very mean. Like Jarrett and many before him have said- it's a business decision. #respectourprocess. Next time, take the low road and have a #1 class.

(doesn't apply in ALL cases; you make exceptions for the in-state kids and the ones that put in the most work... but everybody else... sorry man, it's just business)

ETA: for god's sake, we had linemen decommitting from Texas and no committable offer from LSU griping about us telling recruits to look around. No, we weren't the only school that did that. We should've waited till signing day so we didn't stand out and make ourselves a target.
